The Point! by Harry Nilsson is and always will be the best nostalgic/trippy movie ever. I remember growing up as a kid watching this movie and loving it. Ever since I have started to smoke I have been looking for some good trippy movies. I thought of Alice in Wonderland, Willy Wonka (the old one not that new POS) and 2001 which are all very good. I recently remembered this one odd movie of my childhood that was incredibly fucked up, it was The Point!. I watched it high one night and it brought back memories of my childhood and also brought incredibly origional and extraordinary visuals. Harry Nilsson made some amazing music to go along with the movie. I'm surprised that not many peope have heard of The Point! before, but that would most likely be because it was made as a friday night movie special in the 80's for ABC or NBC or something like that. You won't find it anywhere but on amazon, ebay, etc. Or you can search it on youtube, someone put it up in multiple parts. By the way, it's narated by Ringo Starr. If someone sees this movie I'd love to hear what they think of it.
the best all time trippy movie is OLIVER STONE'S THE DOORS. that movie opened my mind up to everything. i found the meaning of life and what tripping is all about from that movie. i watched it with like 6 other people and when we watched it shit was moving all over. we all saw the same shit happening and we were wondering if it was the movie or if we were visualizing the same shit. the next day i watched it it was a compleatly normal movie. i def recomend watching it the next day.
i recently saw rocky horror picture show for the first time. not really trippy, but it's nothing normal either.
Oh man, I could write pages and pages on movies. As you can probably guess from my name, I am a HUGE philip k dick fan, and highly suggest Blade Runner (my favorite movie), Minority Report, and A Scanner Darkly. I also suggest movies by the Soviet director Andrei Tarkovsky. He made the original Solaris film, another film called Stalker (both REALLY trippy sci fi movies that you can find subtitled) and a really good movie about a painter named Andrei Rublev (which was filmed in the city I was born in, so I might be biased towards it). Still a good film! Also check out some David Lynch films. Really bizarre, but really interesting nonetheless. Those are my favorites that I can think of now, but I'll post more if I think of any. If you had to choose one film from the ones I posted, definitely Blade Runner! edit: and another vote for Easy Rider! That movie changed my life.
The movie "Into the Wild" is extremely spiritual, and i thought it was really wonderful to watch while high. But the most trippy shit, except for Fear and Loathing has to be Blueberry (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276830/). Check this shit out [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=736NKsK86Uk"]YouTube - Ayahuasca[/ame] (and this, if you like psycedelic music ) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2flbDkq9d1k"]YouTube - 1200 Mics - Ayahuasca[/ame] "You enter a special, magical dimension.... the dimension of the spirit world"
some are not necessarily "trippy" movies, but they're movies that are GREAT to watch when stoned: 1. dazed and confused 2. fight club 3. pineapple express 4. a scanner darkly 5. fear and loathing that's my pick.
I know that Wizard of Oz has been mentioned already, but no one has added listening to Dark Side of the Moon at the same time (start the album when the MGM lion roars.) Then there's Monkey Bone which is a comedy but it's kinda trippy I guess.
^ when the lion roars the third time i would add apocalypse now, i can't remember if its in this thread yet or not
I thought it was the second roar? I could be wrong though . And I think you are supposed to restart the album the second time the cowardly lion roars when Dorothy meets him. This movie is trippy as fuck though. El Topo [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtGUx4kXIEY]YouTube - El Topo[/ame] Like an acid trip on film
Umm... I can't remember what roar it was but I don't think it was the third. It was probably the 1st or 2nd. And yeah The Doors is actually a pretty awesome movie whilst stoned. How do you post YouTube videos to the forums?
El Topo looks creepier than any horror movie I've ever seen. Also, anything from David Lynch's mind is just... unexplainable [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKi4Y5zl5qU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKi4Y5zl5qU[/ame] Edit: hmmm well I guess I dont know how to embed youtube clips, how embarrassing. Edit 2: haha I fixed it!
Human Nature was a trippy movie. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGPO15FSepQ]YouTube - Human Nature - Trailer[/ame] Ahh, I loved that part too. He's looking around for someone to talk to in order to finish his sentence. "Total...total...total...total..." It was hilarious.
