http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,22492511-5005375,00.html Look at the spinning girl, then with your mind make her spin the other way. It is possible, and the picture isn't changing, it is simpy your perception.
I saw it going clockwise does that mean I'm abnormal? Holy shit if you stare long enough it changes direction
Not only if you stare at it long enough, if you try hard enough you can make it go back and forth, only doing 180 degree turns instead of 360 degree turns, or only 270 degrees. Read the text, cover it up, do some math in your head, uncover and it should be going the other way Or... Look at it, close your eyes, imagine it going the other way really hard, then look again, it will have switched.
Okay when I first looked at it, it was for sure going counter-clockwise. Then I read the text on the page and looked back and it was definitely going clockwise. This is crazy... I swear it seems like the animation changed. I can't make myself perceive it as counter-clockwise again no matter how hard I try or how long I look at it... Good post...
*edit* This thing's gotta be a hoax. The animation definately switches itself up. When she is going clockwise she's spinning on her left leg, when she is going counterclockwise she's on her right. How could that be an illusion? *edit again* I'm definately right, I call shanannigans on that "illusion"
It can't be a hoax. My Brother was right here, when it was going clockwise for him, it was going counter-clockwise for me.
Okay, it's not a hoax. It's very interesting to watch it frame by frame though, it gives you a better idea of why it happens. It's a lot easier to change perspectives on which direction she's going on a still image.
For some reason, it keeps spinning clockwise for me, and I can't make it go the other way. However, the description for left brain usage is more like me, whereas the description for the right side is almost exactly the opposite. Weird.
This thing defies all logic... I've watched it quite a few times now, and the only time it changes is when I'm not paying attention or I start to do something else. I keep looking at it and then closing my eyes and trying to make it switch and it won't work, it only does it accidentally. I'm pretty sure I understand how it works, I just can't get my instinct to go away. I gotta stop watching this thing before I go insane!
Okay I finally managed to beat it! Here's my trick: while you're watching it, move your finger in a small circle on a table or any flat surface synchronized with the movement of the figure on the screen. Move your finger either clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on which way you see it. Once you've got the rhythm down, switch directions with your finger while still watching the animation and keep the 3 and 9 o'clock positions still in line with each other. In other words, when the figure is towards the left side of the circle, then so is your finger. After doing this a few times, you should be able to make it switch on the screen. I can't believe how much time I just wasted trying to figure out how to control this thing.
lol this thing is startin to piss me off. after 5 minutes i finally got it to change counter-clockwise and now i can't change it back like one of the other posters said, its gonna drive me insane! lol
This is not a hoax I can make her go both ways whenever i want pretty much or have her going one way for the longest time
