Trimming off all big leafs....????

    ok so I have 12 hydro plants, about 1-3/4 feet tall, told the guy that is helping me with the grow that im switching to flowering (this was 2 days ago) and he comes over to look at them, grabs my scissors..... And cuts ALLLLLLLLL of the big leafs off..... I was lik WHAT THE FUCK ARE U DOING TO MY BABIES?????????? he said to chill out and by cutting all the big leafs off like that it will get way more light to the bud sites and the plant will concentrate on making bud instead of making the leafs bigger..... is this true????? or did he completly fuck up my plants??? Im growing with a 430 wat HPS light, in rockwool cubes if that makes a difference....43 days left of flowering hopefully Ill get some good nuggets....!!!!

    Uh no. I don't think he ruined your plants, the leaves will grow back. But what he said isn't true as far as I know. The buds are flowers, they have very little or even NO part in catching light from the HPS and turning it into energy for the plant. Unless someone else here says otherwise, I would advise you to not let that guy near your plants again. Or at least near scissors unless it's to take his own life.

    *edit* In fact, now that I think about it, what he said about "concentrate on making bud instead of making the leafs bigger" will turn out to be false. Because the plant needs those leaves. By trimming them off he has forced the plant to focus on growing leaves instead of bud.

    yea that is what I thought also man, But I cant really tell him to stay the fuck away from my shit cuz he paid for the clones, and the hydro set up, all i paid for was the light..... so its gay..

    Agreed. I would have used those scissors to cut off a finger for every leaf he took. Once all his fingers are gone, start cutting off other appendages...I think your plant will be fine, but it may slow it down.

    How far along are you in the flowering stage? Personally, from what i've read, i would think about even going back to veg light cycle 18:6. Try to get some of those leaves back before i flower it. But thats me!

    Yeah, try what salvia said. Go back to vegative to get those leaves back. It may be a week or two before they come back in full, until then just prune it and make sure it doesnt get too tall. Meanwhile, inform your ignorant friend not to do that again. Also tell him it might be best for him to sit back and watch rather than get hands on with the plant. He might learn something. Because if he's going to want a decent yield he needs to actually know a thing or two about growing plants in general. After that he could learn a thing or two about Marijuana and is anatomy and plant cycle. Otherwise he's going to be very disappointed with how his grows will turn out with no leaves.

    ok thanks for the good info guys, and for ur advise, But now Shit has taken a turn for the worse, I just found out that i have to give the light back to my friend kevin so he can give it back to the ex grower who loaned it to him, I think he is doing this just to be an asshole because him and his girlfriend (my best friend) just broke up and hes jellous cuz I hang out with her all the time..... fucking bullshit huh? whatever, he is cut no more hook ups for him heh.....

    now anyone want to donate about 200 bucks or a nice light at least 400 wat to a good cause so my plants dont die????? :(
