^^^^ I actually remember that grandmaster flash track from when I was a kid

Rap is a lot different these days!

It was so innocent and fresh sounding back then...remember this track? It's not about ni$$as, it's about entertaining!

  4. yeah I think you're problem is with modern mainstream rap, not rap in general.

    I LOVE de la soul.

check these out they're a bit more modern:

  5. Reggie watts so eloquently parodies the state of pop hip hop in the hilarious song "fuck shit stack"

I enjoy rap, but my interest is limited by the absolute vulgarity and "produced" feel most pop rap has rather than it being "created" the way real music is.

  6. I'm not sure a lot of people living in the "hood" can relate to rappers talking about their million dollar cars and mansions.

Anyway, posting some good rap in this thread.

  9. I donno I can think of more than a few Tech N9ne songs that promote drug use, bitches, and killing.

  10. Tech n9ne has become cliche as fuck. "The only rappers I like are Tech N9ne and Immortal Technique"

  11. I've listened to tech for about 8yrs now and I don't dig most of his new shit but when it's right it's perfect

  12. the roots

  13. Theres a LOT of positive rap out there. If you have a short list check out mos def, substantial, binary star.

  14. Words are just a product of manipulating your voicebox. It is offensive because you make it offensive.

  15. you are responsible for what you digest

  16. I don't relate to most of the things they talk about. The worst thing that happened to me was that my dad moved out when I was 9. He still came to see me and I have a good relationship with both of my parents. You clearly take things way too seriously man as I've already pointed out. Just bop your head and chill out. But obviously you can listen to whatever you want.

  17. like somebody said, macklemore, macklemore and macklemore. as a white boy, i can relate to this dude over hood stories.

  18. im glad you like tech n9ne. just do some more searching. mainly all the mainstream rap is like that. and don't take it too close to heart. it's just music. if you like the song, then listen to it. don't like it? skip it.

  19. anything said by real rap artists is all within good reason
