trichs question?

  1. ok i have been reading everywhere to harvest the plants when they start turning amber, but doesn't the plant peak at potency when the trichs are clear/cloudy? isn't that when its at the peak of the best head high? becaz when they go cloudy/amber its 50/50 right? and the buds that i have seem very small the plants had alot of stress. have definately grown to be bigger and more potent if they hadn't gone through this stress, or do some strains produce smaller buds? the samplings i have taken seem to be really strong. and the trichs are clear/cloudy so is this plant at its peak? thanks for any help...:smoking:

  2. or is it mostly cloudy/amber when the plants at its peak of potency?

  3. Does anyone know of a link that describes trichomes and such things about them?

  4. The trichs start clear. As harvest time nears they will start to turn cloudy, then eventually amber. The plant is at its peak from when the trichs are mostly cloudy to mostly amber. Within that range, when you decide to harvest depends on the kind of high you want -- mostly cloudy will give more of an up head high and mostly amber will give more of a couchlock body stone.

  5. High moke! Actually, the time of harvest to a lesser extent can affect the "type" of high slightly. But not as much as the genitics of the strain. Timing the harvest for max potency, will only "max" what the specific strain was bred for. I also notice that not only does an early harvest reduce potency, but also duration of the high as well. So, what toasty is correct just as trics start turning amber, is the strongest it will be. Hope that helps and peace, TBug

  6. Yeah, I don't want to give the impression that by timing the harvest of any strain you can get the full effect of a pure sativa through to a pure indica. If you are growing indica you won't get a true sativa head high no matter when you harvest, but you have some control over the range that the genetics allow.
