Hello GC! I have a couple Kaya Gold plants growing under a 250w HPS (with supplemental CFLs) and they are in their 9th week flowering. Nearly all the trichomes are cloudy with some amber, however only about 40% of the pistils are orange. Should I cut them down now or should I let them go for another week or so? Thanks in advance!
Trichomes are the way to go, chop them now if you can't wait, I prefer a little more cloudy over amber. A lot of people go 50/50 in trichomes, so you could still wait a few more days, maybe 50% of the pistils will have changed by then too, it's upto you really. If you decide to go longer consider plunging them into darkness for the last few days, to boost up resin production just before chop.
What is meant by "plunging them into darkness"? and what does it do for the plants? Is it just leaving the plants in the dark with no light period? thanks
Yes. Some growers like to put their plants into complete darkness a few days before harvest. They say it coaxs the plant into squeezing out any last bit of resin-goodness before you harvest it.
