no, the trichs are alive like the plant, so when the plant dies (harvest) the trichs die, but will get more potent (cureing), but after long periods (months - yrs), the thc does break down
thats what i figured. I was wondering if letting them cure for a long time would change the composition so there would be more CBD and less THC giving a stronger couch lock effect.
I was just discussing the fact that the amber trics in the havested buds soon thrn clear again, but yet to figure out why.I never looked at cured bud for tric collor.
I got the notion because some Aurora Indica I just cut and dryed had all clear/foggy trichs and now that its been curing for a week some of the trichs are amber.
Sorry jc, I disagree with some of what you are saying. The coloration in the trichs is due to the breakdown of THC into other cannabinoids, and as you say that process does continue after harvest, so it could affect the color of the trichs as well. Curing does not make the bud more potent, it just makes it taste much better by managing the breakdown mostly of chlorophyll and the gases that are expelled from that process.
Yes I believe they do keep changing for a little bit after harvest. Shit, a rose bud still blooms once cut from the plant. Same principle. The plant matter is still alive for sometime thus still carrying out its processes
It's funny that I found this thread because tonight I got out some bud that has cured for 3 weeks and noticed a decent amount of trichomes had turned amber. When I harvested they were definitely cloudy.
