Trees of the great depression

  1. So this may or may not be true but as far as I can understand, there are these large areas where trees are planted in rows, I was told that when they needed jobs during the depression one of the programs started was for families to work for the government planting them and taking care of them.

What I'd really hope for is to find some proof. I'm not too good at judging the age of a tree, but since there are so many of these spots around me I have to wonder who did it.

So here's the pictures from my trip!

  4. It's a tree farm. My friends dad used to own one but I think he sold it or something.

  5. Those trees aren't 90 years old. The ones with the pine trees is just a place somebody had logged off and then planted them there

  6. yup, they plant them trees in rows like that around here too, they wait till their mature then they log it off, replant, rinse and repeat. BTW i think them are the type of pine trees they use for telephone poles
