so last night me and my friend got some plants somewhere and one is about 6 inches high and the other about 2 foot and they both were forced into budding because of the time of year. they were growing outdoors and not being taken care of. we tried to cut the root ball out but when i pulled them out i just got a little bit of root and no soil stuck to it (it was really dry dirt) we mixed up some of the old dirt with good potting soil and plant food and now the plants are dropping and almost dead... any ideas why? and could i try to root from the main stalk of the bigger one with rooting hormone?
you probably damaged the roots which damaged its ability to carry water up to the green parts of the plant. you will not be able to root a two foot "clone" in any way that can support new growth for a very long time. i think i read somewhere once that the optimal condition for growth is where the root mass and the vegetative mass are the balanced. in any case, you will only hurt your cause by completely removing the roots because they are damaged. feed them some superthrive and water for a few days. i'm sure you'll get more/better suggestions from others more experienced than me
Just about the only thing u can try is to maximize ur humidity. Get it way too high. That fucker is taking in little moisture. I'd say ur best bet is to make a shitload of clones. PS I hope u guys didn't steal them. Crop Robbers belong in hell with rapists and rats.
