Transplanting Autoflower

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by Skip I am, May 7, 2019.

  1. So i know the best practice is to plant autoflowers in their final pot pretty early on. My incredible bulk auto is quickly turning in to a monster and it's only been under t5s. It is in probably week 3 of flower and is super healthy but the pot size is obviously an issue. Is it safe to pot up or do I take a risk of hindering yields greatly? I do not ever experience transplant shock with my method but it's somewhat nerve racking being in such a small pot. For size sake that is a 1 gallon pot.

  2. Autos can be transplanted. In fact, Mephisto recommends starting in small containers and transplanting - and all they sell are autos. They also don't recommend them for beginners.

Heathy looking plant you have there. Good luck.

  5. Yes I have been just growing them indoors under my t5 that I've been vegging over winter with. They seem to love all organic soil. Dont have to do much more than water them when they need it. I give them teas every other week when I do my outdoor photos

  6. I’ve just started with autos. I’m on my 9th one. I’ve transplanted the last three. And a couple I’ve transplanted twice.

  7. The only reason I like them is because of their predetermined life cycle. Works seamlessly with veg setups and their small stature makes them even better when you are growing many photos for outdoors.

  8. First I want to say that I don't transplant autos, but I have nothing against it, I just want to get the roots and microbe life running as early as possible in the final pot. I also usually have plenty of room to work with.

I think the real trick to transplanting them is just the timing. You want to make sure you have enough root mass to hold everything together when you transplant, but don't want to wait so long that they are root bound and flip to flower early on ya. I bet your's is just right for up potting!

Great looking plant, love the name 'incredible bulk'. Feel free to swing by the Auto thread and visit with us anytime or show off your autos my friend!
    cheers

  9. Moved the incredible bulk auto in to the garden with the other ladies today. Up pot to 25 gal grow bag filled with organics today as well. Here she is in her new home.
Lmfao I'm done for the day. Transplanted the last 6 photos and hooked up the water barrel pump. 1557612840793464018355522782707.jpg

  12. If it makes ya feel better, it is usually much harder to grow outside, and takes longer.

  13. thanks for trying... but NOPE, i don't feel better! LOL

I know about growing outside, just not cannabis. I grew up on a farm so the outside is "normal' although personally i hate the heat and humidity I stay inside and garden inside :)
BUT if I could I would plant a couple outside regardless.

  14. Feel like I'm at the will of nature. I am about to plant a pretty dense floor of marigolds in the garden. Just because the seeds are crazy cheap. I found a few lady bugs running pretty fast around plants today. I'm am thinking more along the lines of preventative. None of my plants are showing any significant damage from insects YET. what do you organic guys do for pest management in the PNW? Last year I used neem oil only by spraying the plants once a week up till mid flower and had good success.

  15. I heard a great tip here on the forum for keeping lady bugs around. Mix a little molasses into hot tap water with a surfactant, and spray plants. The lady will bugs will feed on it when there isn't prey, instead of just moving on to the next yard. I use neem and Dr. Bronners till into flower as you describe.

  16. This is the molasses I got for my tea. How much in a quart spray bottle? I assume I can use a couple drops of plain dawn dish soap as the surfactant? 1557631175731.jpg

  17. Like a teaspoon of molasses per liter. Aloe or agsil (or soap nuts or yucca) would be my first choices for surfactant in this case, but a drop of soap or 2 will work. Test your mixture on something not as important as your canna.
Kind of the opposite of ipm in my thinking, you want to make it attractive to the lady bugs. If you have companion plants in the area of your canna, another option is to spray them instead of the canna, and that should also help to keep them in the area.
I have also heard of putting little dishes of sugar water in boxes to give the lady bugs a place to hide during the day and feed, but the molasses foliar is the winner in my book.

  18. I will look for some aloe tonight as it's also supposed to be beneficial to the plants.
