Transition from smoker to stoner

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by CaptainKittens, Dec 27, 2012.

  1. When do you guys think someone has earned the stoner title? After their 100th toke? Third piece? First bong? Or maybe something with less numbers. Regularly buying weed? Learning how to control a high? When is the turning point from someone whos down to smoke to a stoner?

  2. When ignorant people perceive you to fit arbitrary sterotypes

  3. I would say its when you can a clear a decent bong hit without coughing up a lung orrr its when you understand that dro is not a type of weed...

orrrr... when you understand that smoking inside of a place were other people who don't smoke live your not getting away it

the list can go on really..

  4. I don't know when this started to happen that people who use cannabis think that there is some divine moment where a person goes from regular cannabis user to this 420 blaze it stoner all day everyday bullshit. It's stupid and personally I think it's a cry for attention having to label yourself for doing a simple activity that you enjoy. I see more and more immature kids doing this and advertising the cannabis culture by throwing around stupid terms like "stoner" and the like. I enjoy eating food, so does that mean I should regard myself as an "eater"? No, because it's dumb and people shouldn't have to justify to which degree they enjoy and do their hobbies, if they were really real with themselves, they would be content to do it without these dumb labels.

  5. I think someone becomes a stoner when they smoke regularly and can control the high. By controlling the high, I mean you can smoke a joint or two and still be able to drive or carry on a conversation with someone who isn't high or something along those lines. A functioning weed smoker basically.

  6. Wait, that eating example is terrible. Everybody eats, so of course there isn't a label for it. But not everyone bikes, so you call someone who rides bikes often a biker. Or someone who rides a skateboard often a skater. It's just that kind of label. You take it as a demeaning label, but not everyone does. I like it when people call me a stoner, honestly.

  7. Jesus people relax. For a bunch of stoners you guys sure are uptight.

  8. I think someone becomes a stoner when they are smoking purely because they love to be high. Not because their friends are doing it or because they wanna party. Just because they love being high.

Also I think that when a person is able to control their high they sort of become a stoner. We all remember the first time we got high and were afraid to go home. Now I can smoke in my basement and go upstairs to my parents and be fully confident that they won't notice.

  9. when you always reak of grass

  10. when they can control their high and respect the bud.

  11. I think a person makes the transition from smoker to stoner when they buy their own bud and develop a respect for it. it bothers me when people don't know there shit and advertise "yeah I smoke weed!" and shit like that. your officially a stoner in my eyes once you have tried a majority of types of weed and know what your talking about when you talk about them or explain them. I started off putting a bunch of money in with my friends and smoking blunts, but after awhile I realized that Mary Jane is beautiful and I started buying and having my own stash, and I don't smoke blunts anymore (I don't like tobacco) and I got my first glass piece and from then I have just progressed into the stoner I am today. and unlike some of you, I'm proud of it:)

  12. when you integrate weed into your life and it's not just something you do for fun but fun is still part of it :)

  13. Lmao. So many people call all nuggets, dro in my area. It pisses me off so bad because i like to know what kind im smoking and theyre just like "derka derka it da dro " and im like youre a moron.

  14. Not a fan of the word 'stoner', nor am I a fan of labeling people, but I'd say you are an avid cannabis user when you start getting high by yourself frequently.

It shows that you aren't just doing it because your friends are, and you actually really enjoy the feeling of being high.

  15. when your own sweat starts smelling like weed man

  16. Like others have said, there's never going to be a defining "oh now I'm a stoner" moment. It just becomes of itself.

I consider a person to be serious about marijuana (ie stoner) once they respect it, which could happen all kinds of ways but is usually when you keep your own stash and smoke by yourself just because you enjoy the feeling of getting high.

  17. I would probably agree with some of the other posts. As long as you smoke weed to destress or have fun you're a stoner to me !

Theres many negative connotations that media associates along with the word "stoner"

If we use something like "Cannabis Enthusiast" then we can use our imaginations to come up with a new and improved image. No more band T-shirts 7-days a week and rasta-coloured displays of poserness.

    edit: fuck cheetos.

  19. Although I like to think of myself as a, "stoner," people use the term as an insult. People where I live just think, "stupid, lazy, degenerate, crackhead personality," and it just annoys the shit out of me when people do that; whatever though.

OP- I think someone can be considered as a, "stoner," once they have their own stash, often smoke by themselves, start learning how to eyeball weed to tell close amounts, knowing the qualities of low-high quality cannabis, maybe even some knowledge on some strains. But the biggest one out of all of these would have to be, like others have said above me, respect the bud.

  20. Buying weed for the first time for yourself so you know it's not just a party favor anymore
