Transferring to different soil

  1. I have started my first grow as of yesterday. Right now I have a few seeds germinating. Here's the deal. I'm on a shoestring budget until payday (this Friday). Ultimately, I want to grow in a good quality soil, something like a Fox Farm or equivalent. However, I can't afford a bag of FF until Friday. So if, best case scenario, the root tips pop out before Friday, I've got to get them into solo cups before Friday and will only be able to afford a cheaper bag of soil. How detrimental is it to a young plant to transfer into a different soil? If I was forced to initially plant these in a cheaper soil, I would like to transfer to a better soil when I transfer from the solo cups to bigger pots. Is this bad? Or do I just need to make sure the two soils have the same NPK ratio? Thanks for any advice.

  2. For Fox Farms their Light Warrior soil is what I use for seedlings, kind of a big bag of soil for just seedlings but I havent had any problems with it. Seedlings dont need any nutes for the first several weeks or so. Once they get their second to third set of 3 bladed leaves is when I transplant them into bigger containers with Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. If you can find a smaller bag of soil more geared for seedlings then that would be an option if you have a hydro store near you. I`ve tranplanted seeds and seedling before you just need to do it carefuly.
