Yah, I did some duper cropping once a mainline photo I had was getting way tall. The cores on the mains seemed hollow and I definitely did some damage to the skin but like you say they healed up stronger than before. This was early stretch when things got outta hand. Wrapped the injuries in cling wrap for about a week. However, I did use some soft ties to both keep the bent stems from flopping down and/or popping right back up to vertical. Just never thought of it for autos, but makes sense on a healthy and vigorous plant, exp if it reduces labor.
