  1. soo i was gonna get tor, which is (i think) a type of browser that basicaly makes you anonymous. but i was wondering if anybody had used it?
if i get tor, can i then use google regularly without running through tor

  2. I DLd the Tor browser a while back, but when I click on a link it doesn't do anything. I'm sure it's just a wrong setting somewhere, but I'm too lazy and don't care enough to find the solution.

I'm not sure about your Google question. I use the "DuckDuckGo" search engine instead of Google (on Firefox) if I want to be a little less visible.

  3. no, tor only works in tor browser.

its slow as fuck, and useless unless you are doing some majorly illegal shit and i wouldnt even want to help you then....

just use a proper peer blocker or a VPN to be safe...

  4. Only use tor brower if you wanna get into the deep net other then that it useless

  5. Wrong..You can access the Tor network from any capable browser. Most just use the Tor browser because it's already setup. I have Orbot on my cell phone, but hate the Orweb browser it came bundled with so I simply changed the HTTP and HTTPS settings in the Opera browser and it works perfectly fine. On a computer, or Windows at least, Vidalia is the program that actually establishes your connection to the Tor network. If you're using the Tor Browser but close Vidalia, you will no longer have your anonymity.

To the OP: I use Tor on a regular basis..if you're trying to find a way to make all your traffic and data anonymous, pay for a good proxy or vpn. Preferably one over seas that keep no logs on their servers. Tor is horribly slow for complete usage..and yes, you can use Google still, but they can detect you using a proxy service and make you do a captcha..and most of the time your IP will show from a different country, so you will get the results for that country, not the country your actually in.

  6. Tor sucks for regular browsing but if you want to explore the deep web Tor is pretty awesome.Be careful where you go....Ive been to some pretty dark corners of the internet

  7. soooooo slowwww. you can get a pre configured tor browser already set up to work on your OS. you should send bandwidth to the tor network if you have any to spare it makes everyones connection a bit safer. some cool sites on there too.

  8. ^Painfully slow. Tor is good for getting drugs that's about it.

  9. No way man! I mean sure, it's amazing for getting drugs if you know what you're doing, but it's pretty much a life saver for people that actually need the anonymity..like the Chinese, foreign journalists, military, whistle blowers, etc.

And if all the people that use Tor that were capable of hosting a relay or a bridge did so, it would be alot faster..I'm actually working on setting up a relay and a bridge on my home server that will run at all times unless I'm streaming my movies or music from the server. I'd love looking into my logs and seeing someone connecting through me from China or another censored country. All humans have the right to access any part of the internet they want, and if I can help people achieve this freedom, then why not!!

Just be careful in onionland, Damn near everything is a scam

  10. Yeah in on the tor browser a lot...when I post in ATS, or when I'm shopping for contraband. The UN is tryin there best to moniter US and Canada hardcore

  11. I don't think it's a good idea to admit to shopping for contraband on tor, on a public forum anyways lol..unless you're using Tor to post that ;) haha

  12. I thought the big drug sale site was closed down? I might be mistaken, dunno.

  13. There were a couple takedowns of big websites..but a movement like this can't be suppressed..they might figure out a way to take the websites down, but as we all know in the drug trade, when you take one drug dealer down two more pop up..they took down farmers market and that other website, don't remember the name, and now there are two prominent market places..That's not including the smaller invite only markets that exist in onionland..even if you have no interest in it, I suggest looking into the deep web, it's definitely some interesting shit there, and I've actually learned alot about cryptology and steganography the last couple months just by browsing..just be careful of the kiddie porn there..came across it once when I first found Tor and I didn't touch my computer for days. Not out of fear of being prosecuted, but I was just so sickened and disturbed. Luckily I believe either the Hidden wiki or TorDir gives you an option to remove all links to kiddie porn

  14. guns drugs stolen goods and anything slightly illegal can be found on the darkweb that being said make sure you are prepared it's alot more dangerous the web you are used to learned alot about computers i probably wouldnt have known before but i don't really have an interest in going back if you go there start with tordir the hidden wiki is almost always down

  15. Tor is only good if you want to a) Be anonymous or b) score some drugs.
Also, it's pretty slow. I only use it when I absolutely have to.
