I have 3 plants going this year just for something to do in my offtime. My grow room isn't completely setup so I'm not pushing these girls quickly at all. Eye Hortilux 600 watt hps system, have the fre bulb plugged in no superhps till flower when i decide to set up my ducting unit. Running general hydroponics flora series performance pack. Soil- 38% ocean forest, 26% light warrior, 34% cocoloco. 2% coconut (wondered if it could act at all like vermiculite aside from its nutritional benefit) coffee, organics. Haven't bought a new set of the supplemental nutrients I like and microbiotics, I'll have them in a month. The lack of liquid fertilizer and silica+ is very apparent even with quarter strength feedings the whole time. I evenly water till 7 - 10% runoff. Topped to 16* colas minor stress training to open canopy, not worried about height. Flowering at 2.5 - 3.2 feet. I need to address the dominant nodes suffocating the neighbors of nutrient delivery and volume. Question is should I bend once a week, stalk split, or ratio my feedings differently to engage with hormones? I don't mind the amount of aggression to get it done. The upper nodes have evened out but the first 3 cuts have dramatic differences in stem thickness. Need to get them all even so I can swell the trunk and ratio of stems follows in timely manners. 20230110_124738.jpg 20230110_124536.jpg 20230110_124528.jpg

  2. bend over all the tall ones or cut off the short ones something went wrong in your topping they look all uneven I see a lot of purple stems and light green leaves if this is not because of the lighting and they really are this color you have other issues to address too Supercropping is an option too!

  3. generally on a decent plant at harvest the stem is between 1 inch and 1 and a half in circumference

I have the general hydroponics 3 part system of nutrients to work with till flower when I'll buy liquid fert, microbes, and other supplements. They ran 8 weeks in 1 gallon pots and have had 2 weeks of recovery time under a yellow/white light. They aren't gonna have sufficiencies of nutrients while the metabolic rate is up and only their main requirements are met. They gonna look pale because I'm choosing to let it happen.
However I know the ocean forest I used was kept outside in the heat and rain for 1.3 years at the local garden shop and I bought it anyway... they also have no fresh air entering they box

  5. I'm not bending or maintenancing upper nodal structures until I settle the distribution of delivery fibers. I assume If I do the plant will continue to rely solely on the already dominant half. I do have a timely grow routine but I don't mind pushing this particular grow to the extent of what the plant needs in order to yield what I like to see.

  6. I have 3 to 6 weeks before I flush and stand the 5 gallons onto another 5 gallon to make 10 gallon tall pots. Then 2 weeks after that I start flower. I'm trying to settle the root and stem distribution in the quickest and lowest stress form possible. However I'm not trying to cut time on following worthwhile procedures. Wondered if anybody split stalks or knew nutrient ratios or chemicals to affect hormones or plant behaviors.

  7. I have never had issues with yielding worthy bud mass on supplemental nodes so I keep them. I keep extra fan leaves especially in conditions where I budget my grow.

  8. Weed grows with shallow roots, why would you stack pots?

Im broke as fuck. I have extra pots, wouldn't mind cutting the bottom out of them. Root volume dictates what's above ground and roots follow water and gravity, they'll grow down before growing up. If your plants start to root bound they raise the root mass of their own accord to continue to have space to grow down. My soil mix is enough a fluffy mixture for the roots to move the whole mixture of soil on its own without being restricted by compaction. Ever heard of aeroponics systems or hydroponics? My mix is light enough to allow growth but fertilizers and aged product is lesser than more compacted soil mixes naturally.

1 hour before lights on. These better pics under white CFL, maybe its the fox farm being almost 2 years weathered when i bought?..... The one on left had been neglected outside caught gnats and other critters and I abused the soil with multiple flushes of cayenne to rid them is also 4 weeks older than right plant which is 2 weeks older than closest plant. 20230111_145706.jpg

Unfortunate my soil quality is unbalanced when its never been when i ordered soil online. The points I'm focused on trying to correct are not nutritional at the moment but structural solely because I'm aware of the simple possibilities to increase wellness already. I accidentally mixed the 3 cubic feet of soil into the other 4 cubic feet of soil before I realized I shouldn't have trusted the garden center in this small town (i asked about the date when i was there and they played dumb... fast forward i found out it takes 2-3 years for them to sell a normal size pallet of soil bags) so even my repots are affected if it's the soil and I'm not just throwing it out because this grow is more for a freetime hobby and to see a few different genetics behaviors to understand the species of plant more.

Would one split the further nodal splits first or start at the stalk and move up nodes. Also how long would stalk and stem splitting take to recover doing it during veg or would it cause necrosis or stunting more than resilience? Cause I'm about to cut down the center they forearms to produce the weights I want to see... like the gruesome saw movie.

  13. IMO stalk splitting is Broscience and detrimental i hope it works out the look healthy enough at the moment

I guess bending them till I get some more info is the way to go. Broke my CFL guard for a metal ring, had 6 strings some hair ties and a hammer. Seems like it'll do the job just gonna have to trade the strings to alternate nodes over 3 weeks. 20230111_174018.jpg

  15. I train my plants using an augmented mainlining technique. Here's a 7 week old plant in a 10 gallon pot I just flipped to flower last night. 20230112_205702.jpg Note the structure of the stem and how even the top is. 20230112_205641.jpg
This is a plant trained exactly the same 4 weeks into flower. 20230112_210547.jpg

  16. That helps, I've never had issues with stems like this so after seeing yours I assume it might be the 2 bags of soil being old and weathered otherwise I'm just going crazy. I'll find something around here to get the stems evenly spread out. It seems the bending will swell my stems I just don't know if they'll even out completely like I want. I like how fat yours are looking thanks for the info.

  17. You could try super cropping the taller branches and tying them down this way the auxins will be redirected to those lower branches and they should catch up.
