Topping Alternating Nodes?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Newty, Apr 18, 2023.

  1. Hello, new to the forum and looking for some guidance!
As long as I can remember I've been a lover of marijuana. I decided years ago that I wanted to try indoor growing, I looked around for indoor setups and came along the Stealth Box cabinets. Stealth Box was having a $200 off sale so I purchased one of their boxes, when it arrived the light didn't work and the welds were crap. I messaged customer service and they sent me another, I went ahead and fixed the damaged one so I ended with two 4 plant boxes for less then the price of 1! I will say that Stealth Box customer service was fantastic and handled the issue quickly.
I grew several plants back to back and have never had a seed not germinate and never have lost a plant. I keep a grow journal and have always used the same method. I germinate using the method from crop king then happy frog in seedling trays and when I transplant to the cloth pots, I use 1 part happy frog to 2 parts ocean forest. I have always watered with a zero water pitcher and keep General Organics Bio Thrive Grow, Bloom, and CaMag+ on hand. My yields have always been average.
I haven't grown in a couple years, life happened and I just didn't have the time anymore.
I live near a reservation that has a few dispensaries and I was up getting a couple Os and noticed they had Headband Clones, my life is back to norm so I decided I wanted to start growing again so bought 2 of the clones to ease my way back into it.
I want to top the clones, when they're ready, but they have alternating nodes, I'm not sure how to top these so I'm here asking for some guidance so I don't screw it up.
I attached a couple pictures of my plants. I've never failed at a grow but know they could be better. I've always used the same method because I was worried about trying something new, I want to start trying new things but I'm still very much a beginner and if there's anyone that sees something I'm doing wrong or should be doing differently, please tell me! I take criticism well! Anyway if someone could give me advice on how/where to top these clones, I would really appreciate it![IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. Thank you for the link! I've read a few on topping but never came across that one, I learn something from each article I read.

I'm assuming for alternating nodes I can just do the same, cut and tie down to expose as much light to the other nodes while it recovers from the topping.

  3. Yup. You will only want 3-4 nodes per plant for that little space.
