I mix a ton rice hulls in my vmc top dress. It works great! It reminds of natural forest needle litter. os
I do both. It works out now to be 2 or 3 no tills, then a recycle. This is kinda due to winter being only indoor so I have soil+ containers that are not in use and stockpile soil. I love rice hulls so much that I add them to compost, then store that for a while with worms, then add more and run that thru a wormbin, then add a little more to drop dress. The vmc kinda sinks itself below the rice hulls and self mulches. Its also really sweet cause I run out of mulch toward the end of winter, and straw is just too dawn messy if I have to move pots from inside to the green house, or vice versa. When I initially top dress my vmc looks like this Vmc by Organic sinse posted Dec 7, 2016 at 11:24 PM After a couple top waters it looks like this (sorry for the blurple light) Rice H Close by Organic sinse posted Dec 7, 2016 at 11:15 PM I'm not as thick as the vid, prob 1/4 to 1/2 " in the pic. os
