I was cleaning my bubbler when the toothpick I was using to clean my downstem got stuck in it. I tried pushing it down and breaking it but it obviously didn't work. I was thinking maybe a chemical that will break apart the wood but not damage my glass would work. I have tried cleaning it with rubbing alcohol to loosen the resin up but it also did not work. Here are a few pictures. I need some suggestions
can barely even see it. try filling it up all the way with water and blowing it out? idk.. leave it in there? lol
I have cleaned it probably 5 or 6 times with salt and rubbing alcohol to try and loosen it up. Yes, it is stuck in the resin and the stem is a very hard part of the bub to clean. I would just leave it in there but it makes the bubbler difficult to hit.
I dont think there is anything you can do, glass was stuck in my old bong and nothing i did worked, then again i could be wrong. goodluck
well im thinking it might be stuck wedged between the stem and the actual peice go to a headshop and buy a good chemical cleaner
well im thinking it might be stuck wedged between the stem and the actual peice go to a headshop and buy a good chemical cleaner
Yeah get some 420 cleaner and pour it in till its filled up the whole bub and let it sit for a few hours then shake the shit out of it for a few minutes. The tooth pick should come out and it'll look as clean Aw new.
ya im thinking it might saturate enough after a while get a pipecleaner, like a craft from micheals arts and crafts.. if you have that up in new york (i assume you do) and just see if you can make a hook out of it. and just play with it, wedge it around and move it, and if you're patient and skilled enough to carefully lure it out and pinch it with the tips of your finger... i could see that happening dont try tying something together or forming something together using tape cause there's the possibility that the little device you made might break too, then you'll have two peices to get out lol..
Well when the resin that is holding it to the downstem is dissolved it should slide back out. Or if you got some old tweezers and a file, file them sombitches down till they're really pointy and you should be able to pick it out if you're patient enough.
The downstem is hard to clean. I was using a toothpick to try and loosen up some of the resin so I could wash it out. Thanks for your help though I appreciate it... To everyone else, formula 420 is definetely an option but an expensive one. Not only is it slightly caked in with resin but I think it could also be jammed to the bottom of the piece. I tried looking for my big bottle of rubbing alcohol but I think my room mate stole it. The important thing to me is I dont damage my glass.

Just put some salt in the alcohol it'll do the same thing and it won't hurt the glass at all. I dont recommend boiling it. You can but it could break if it cools too fast.
This thread brought back old memories lol... I just remembered how my first spoon broke. Fucking twig broke off inside when my buddy was cleaning it. Tried to clean it over and over with hot water and iso and could never get it to budge, but probably didn't put enough time into it. Eventually the spoon broke in the process of trying to pull the twig out with pliers. Let your pipe sit in the 90 something % alcohol overnight. In the morning try to rinse it out with hot water. If that doesn't work you may want to try boiling it.
