I have a plant growing in this dresser i messed with under 4 23w clfs and 2 42w cfls. Its over 2 months in and a few weeks since ive noticed the first flowering signs. I have a fan blowing out air but its in a dresser so i just keep a drawer by the fan open a little to filter out old air. It gets pretty hot in there and im just wondering if my set up is good or too little air circulation or something. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
That's not too much light. Temps are high, cool em down. Keep that air exchanging and that should help.
You have discovered why dresser grows suck. Usually a dresser is made of wood and wood absorbs heat and is slow to release it keeping the ambient air higher then it should be. To decrease that you need more air flow out. Heat management is alot of the light but also what your growing in. Your dresser does not radiate heat well. A grow tent does since its paper thin. Part of the whole cooling involves that most dont think about it. Heat radiates and seeks to escape the dresser is blocking that.

It should be up top cuz heat rises right?
i heard a cool mist humidifier works good too. Anyone use those?
How would that help you with cooling? Those increase humidity and water traps heat it would cause a increase in the temps. Also a moisture build up in a area that is not getting good ventilation is I'll advised.

Like maybe some sort of greenhouse like thing thats not as hot. Im not sure tho im just going off stuff ive heard
in the general swamp cooler idea, sure. water evaporates, and takes heat of whatever it's on with it. not a good idea in a wood cabinet tho... just think about that for a second.
With a Swamp cooler though you have it open and the giant fan creates a pressure change, air is forced out that open window and the mositure creates a evaporating effect..used to have one out in Cali.
Hey also in my set up i dont having reflecting walls or anything. Are those really that crucial if the lights are right on the plants? Theres like reflectors on the light so their directed at one point just the walls and stuff have nothing on them.
No, that's really just grow room bling.
Okay thanks man. I didnt think theyd really do much
and by grow room bling he means that its possible that your plant could have burnt leaves due to uneven distribution of heat.

Well nothing like that has been happening so i dont think it will but thanks for the heads up. But i have another quick question if anyone could help. Lately my plant hasnt been growing as much as when it was in veg. Ive noticed some slow growth on budsites and just normal plant growth but its been pretty slow. Is it a light issue or watering issue or what? Or is this normal?
First I will start off by saying the name of this thread is very funny. Especially if it starts off talking about a cfl setup. Now to your problem. I think (just a guess btw) you may be seeing growth slow way down when you switched to flower due to the color temperature of your light (I think its too cool of a light). That is why HPS bulbs blow everything else away (maybe led setups too, but only the very expensive ones). HPS is a much more intense light frequency and that helps with the extreme changes and growth the plant is going through when it begins to flower. This is not to say you can not grow full cycle with cfl's, more that you need to be prepared for their shortfalls too. Keeping them as close as you possibly can to your plants is really the only thing you can do short of adding many more, or getting yourself a very small HPS set up. If you do go with the HPS you really will need to get those temps under control, or you have not even experienced the beginning of your heat problems.

I meant just involving the heat problem. I thought that many bulbs would be giving off too much heat because there were 6 in a small area. But for me to get a HPS wont i need to get a whole like socket/hood thing to have it in? I couldnt just put the new bulbs in my lights i have now is what im saying. I havent looked much into those because i figured my cfls would work fine for supporting one plant and i didnt want to invest in any other type of lighting til i went bigger
