I'm going to be setting up a cabinet grow of 3x3 or 4x4. (never done this before). I'm considering getting a 1000W HPS Grow Light Super Sun 2 Reflector SS10 Ballast and using a 1000 Watt Sunmaster Super HPS Plant Grow Lamp with enhanced blue light spectrum. I had a friend tell me that he successfully get's 1.5 lbs of finished bud from a 1000w light over a 4x4 space with 9 plants. According to my calculations, it would work out to 8,750 lumens per square foot. Do you think that much light is overkill for that space? Should I go with a smaller light? Would a 1000 watt be detrimental to the plants growth?
yes that is overkill. 600w tops for that size. plus a 600 will produce much less heat, cheaper to run and provide more than enough light for a 12ftsq area. if u truely had a 4x4, u could maybe push that many, but i wouldnt with anything less. i think u 'could' get 1.5lb's out of a 4x4 with 1000w, that = .672g/w/h. gram per watt per harvest.
