  1. Heeeeyy guys!!

i thought id post to see if anyone on the forum is a broadway- musical theater fan!?! And if SO, what are their opinions for the nominees for the 2006 Tony Awards/

I am a huge fan of musical theater, and I have been performing in shows since i was little- It would be nice to have some people on here to discuss new and upcoming shows.. and the inside scoop. ANYWAYS here are the nominees for best show...ANYONES OPINION!?!

THE COLOR PURPLE (This is Opera Winfreys show.. heres a link to a vid about it if anyone wants info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsRIgn4UxTI&search=color purple )

The Drowsey Chaperone (I love Sutton Foster, went to musical theater camp with her when I was young.. heres a clip of her singing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvq2kOJrIBs&search=drowsy chaperone And the website to the show: )

    Jersey Boys ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN0zExZG8M8&search=jersey boys )

The Wedding Singer (Based on Adam sandlers movie.... vid of the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1q6Eb7P3uQ&search=wedding singer )

My vote goes to either Drowsey Chaperone.. or Wedding Singer.

  2. I'm also into musical theatre, though my interest has been much more recent. I didn't really get into it till HS, when I played in the pit band for all the musicals. I also took an AWESOME history of musical theatre class here in the fall...blew my mind. I haven't really been keeping up with the new shows this year, but I've heard great things about The Color Purple.

The musical I've been watching the most of recently has been the Bette Midler version of Gypsy. I wrote papers for 2 different classes (history of musical theatre, psychopathology in the movies) psychoanalyzing mama rose...in doing so I think i've watched this production at least 20x!

Not much else to say, except that I have tix for Spamalot in the summer, and will probably take the train into the city as many times as I can afford and hit up some shows via TKTS.

  3. I have tickets to Spamalot too!!

my suggestion to you- IF you ever get to broadway to see some shows... see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

I have seen and participated in so many shows and I have to tell you... DRS is the BEST show i have ever seen. It is SOO SOOO SOOO funny. I died laughing.

  4. Haha yes it's on my list for sure!! One of my friends is obsessed with one Norbert Leo Butz and tells me pretty much daily what a great show it is. I'm hoping they'll shoot some tix over to TKTS so i can see it on my budget!!
