Tolerance Back to Normal?

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by FloatOn77, Jun 29, 2006.

  1. As some might know, I'm currently in a rehabilitation program...because of my horrible, discusting, and life ruining marijuana addiction (or so they say). Yesterday, we got on the topic of tolerance in the group. The one guy, who doesnt seem to care when he leaves the program and is brutally honest said that the good thing about this rehab was that his tolerance was going to go back down by the time he would be able to smoke again (80 percent of the people in my adult group are court ordered there for smoking pot, which surprised me).

Of course I silently said to myself, damn right, and chuckled a bit. I went back off to daydreaming but snapped to attention when I heard the counselor say:

"But of course your tolerance goes straight to where it was within days after you start using again."

So my question is...for people who have taken long tolerance breaks, is this true? Was she just saying this or is this fact?

  2. not true, tolerance is created due to THC being stored within the fat and blood in your body. Once the THC is out of your system you are back to 0 tolerance (or close to it). I believe THC usually is out of the blood stream within a couple weeks and the deposits in fat could take a few weeks-over a month depending on how active you are and how much fat is in your body ( a bigger <AKA fattier> person will have lower concentrations but in more areas of fat so it may take longer to reduce the THC)

  3. That is kind of what I thought, but it just didn't make sence that this lady would tell us that.

  4. If you slow down the smoking or take like a week off it will come back quick but when you stop smoking long enough to clear your system its going to be basically like when you started smoking, except youll probally be somewhat used to the effects, they will feel alot stronger though.

  5. Of course the lady is going to say that. She's trying to get you to stop.
