Today, I..... A thread for activists!

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by Storm Crow, Aug 17, 2012.

  1. The point of this thread is to see what each of you is doing to get help cannabis legal! :yay: It doesn't have to be a huge thing, just you somehow being an activist.

Each post should start "Today, I" and just tell what you did as an activist. And maybe you'll give others some new ideas! Or show them how it's done!

So I'll start it off, to show you what I mean...:D

Today, I saw an article about U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag trying to shut down all those California dispensaries. I posted up this comment (got in the first comment, too! :hello: )

I am female, just turned 65. Can you imagine ME searching for a dealer? Dispensaries provide a safe and dependable place to buy cannabis for people like me. Cannabis prevents my migraines that I have from a severe childhood head injury.

Melinda Haag, just where AM I supposed to buy my herbal medicine? I should be free to choose whether I wish to treat my migraines with pharmaceuticals, or safer herbal remedies as long as I am under a doctor's supervision! I should be able to buy either medicine in safe and secure surroundings! You want to deny me that.

If you have your way, I have 3 choices- use pharmaceuticals and risk addiction and those "rare but sometimes fatal side effects", start looking in back alleys for a dealer; or perhaps you would prefer that I just shut up and suffer? I find that none of them are acceptable!

Since it is on Yahoo news, I know one of her flunkies will read it, and that means there is a slight chance she will see it herself. But it will be noted by some little stat keeper as a "disapprove strongly", at the least.

As of this moment there are 538,427 members in GrassCity! Think of the impact we could have! Each of us doing just one little thing every week or so!

This thread is our chance to show what we can do! :yay:

So did you write your politicians? Who and where are they? Maybe you commented in the news? Or finally send an article about fibro and cannabis to "Aunt Rose"? Tell us about it!

  2. today I was honest about my medical marijuana to the police.
  3. Told my family everything I know
  4. I am Australian, so if any of the following political names are unfamiliar to you that's why.

I have within the last week emailed our current Prime Minister Julia Gillard, leader of the opposition Tony Abbott and each state premier with regards to to an open, honest and fair debate, followed by a vote by the public in regards to marijuana law reforms.

I have written up a petition that is both legally standing and fully up to date with all relevant information it requires to be legitimate. If the responses I receive from said parliamentary officials is unsatisfactory, I will personally and publicly be requesting signatures not only within my home town, but the capital city of my state. The petition will be the same as I addressed to them directly, and open, fair and public debate about the law, and a vote by the public on the matter. I will then send it to the House of Representatives as is par for the course for all petitions in my country.

Something inside me has recently snapped, I no longer wish to tolerate this absurdity any longer and i've taken it upon myself to prove to my government I am not alone.

It was once said there's a snowballs chance in hell of legalizing cannabis. I want to push it beyond that, I plan to bring winter to hell.
  5. Today I saw another news article and took mild offense at "Carrie's" remark of "dope smokers" . So here is my response to her-

Carrie, you might want to read this WebMD article. "Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's" (2006) We, "dope smokers", will not be at risk for Alzheimer's! THC is almost 10 times more effective than Aricept at preventing Alzheimer's! Our cannabis use protects our brains!

Or consider this, one in eight American women will suffer from breast cancer. Cannabidiol (CBD) is the #2 chemical in marijuana. You should read "Cannabidiol induces programmed cell death in breast cancer cells by coordinating the crosstalk between apoptosis and autophagy." It is very interesting!

You may not know what autophagy or apoptosis are, but "cell death in breast cancer cells" is pretty darn clear!

CBD can't get you high- new strains of "high CBD, low THC" cannabis are now available in California. They are for healing, not getting high. And the ONLY place you can find them is at dispensaries. Street dealers have no interest in "can't get you high" marijuana!

Hon, I am offering you a public challenge! Run a single search for "Granny Storm Crow's MMJ Reference List" and just read the titles. No complicated medical studies, or even news article- just read the little titles. Then come back and tell us what you think of all those PubMed studies and medical news articles! I dare you to tell us how all those doctors and scientists are wrong.

Educate yourself! Once the medical facts about cannabis become known, the need for legalization becomes obvious!

If she takes my challenge, she will have some heavy rethinking to do! :D
