To toke or not to toke

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Railer, Sep 9, 2011.

  1. Ok here's the thing. I have done shitty in the past in school. I am taking a bunch of make up classes senior year. I have bad add, so it's hard. But if I get all my shit together, which I have so far, can I smoke?

I have to try hard just to do homework. Not cause it's hard, but because I can't get myself to do it. I am trying hard as fuck. I am determined to keep it together. And I will. I try hard as hell to keep it together, and I think I really can. I'm good at school, and when I can focus, and anyone else with like a add type thing knows its hard to get yourself to do something, I'm really really good at school. So I want to stay on top of everything. And I feel that I can, just as long as I don't put stuff off, be lazy, and stay organized.

Weed has never hindered my performance, because I've never done it during school or doing school work. But, I have this anxiety that if I smoke, I will fuck up for some reason.

Even if I smoke on saturday, when I have all my shit done, and taken care of, do you think it will fuck me up for other times it sounds irrational, but will it mess me up,or make add worse, after coming down days later? Does anyone even know what I mean?

  2. I used to always smoke while working on anything back in the day. Made me focus big time and then I would snap back into it and all my shit would be done. And then I would have to reward myself with a few more rips :smoke:

  3. Smoking weed develops a lazy, relaxed personality. I used to be quite an uptight person until I started smoking weed, now i'm so chilled out, and very lazy haha.

But I don't want that. I know there are people who are successful and smoke v

  5. That is only an excuse. :smoke:

  6. I didn't properly read your post, it's 3:28am, but I hoped that sharing what happened with me might have been some help?

  7. Have you considered medication for your ADD? Short term it can work wonders, but stay on it for too long and it can have some adverse effects. Somehow I don't think you'd be taking it for 15 years though, the way the doctors made me.

Well I cant really get a rx, and I hate buying it because it's not consistent. That's usually how I focus but dude it's not like a study drug, it's vital.

  9. I know what you mean, but I see no problem with smoking weed as long as you have your shit together. If you start to fall behind, then you need to stop. Especially in high school, keep your smoking under moderation and remember what's really important: graduating, getting your diploma, walking down the stage after all the pointless fucking years of dealing with bullshit of school and never having to go back again. I know how it feels dude.

I can't tell you how many kids I used to know who didn't graduate or do good in school simply because of their addiction to marijuana. Notice how I don't say "they didn't go good because they smoked weed," because weed isn't necessarily what stops people from doing things, it's the addiction. When a high schooler starts skipping class, falling behind, etc, just to smoke, it's from the addiction, not from marijuana itself. Marijuana might make a person feel tired and lazy sometimes, but it isn't fair to blame the plant when that person chose to smoke in the first place, knowing it might cause them to not pay attention in school.

  10. No insurance? If you can't get it legally definitely don't bother with it at all - it's stupid expensive on the street. Only thing I can suggest is maybe talk to your school councillor to see if you can't get special testing allowances - legally colleges (not sure about high schools) are required to offer things like private testing and increased testing time to people with certain disorders, one of which is ADD.

  11. To OP:

My brother was diagnosed with ADHD when he was a kid. It was a bullshit diagnosis though, my dad took him off the chems they were giving him and he's fine now.

My advice is don't use unproven syndromes as crutches, man. If you buckle your ass down like my bro did, you'll find that most of your "problem" was in your head and you were just using it as an excuse to not do work.

One thing I know is I won't get high before school or skip class or even smoke on weekdays or any other day for that matter.

I know school is #1 and no activity comes before that, but if weed is *almost* harmless, wouldn't it be ok just to smoke on a saturday night when you have all your homework done, and your just watching tv, and nothing that your blowing off?

  13. Actually ADD/ADHD are very much real disorders. They're just massively over diagnosed because shoving drugs on kids to make them behave is easier than actual parenting.

That's what I mean. They can't actually prove the child has it unless they take some of their spinal fluid. Ergo, unproven.

That's why people can use it as a crutch.

Ok that's might be true for him. But honestly I am not a lazy person. I have worked for a long time, and I hop on shut if people tell me to do something. You don't understand I fucking battle myself to pull out a book and put a pen to the paper. I say ok I will do it after I watch tv for an hour after dinner after I hang out after my shower I will wake up early and do it never happens. I end up failing classes because of it. But, there are rare occasions where I can sit down and pound out work. Don't tell me this. It is hard as hell

Honestly if I buckle my ass down, I will end up zoning out, or watching the tv left on , or if there's no distractions, I will stare at the wall daydreaming. I don't think you understand this isn't laziness

  17. I got rediagnosed as an adult, but I know I used it as a crutch for years, mainly because the meds made school so easy. I finally quit taking them when I was on such strong doses that I could barely type when it kicked in (my hands were shaking so much I had to type with one finger. 90mg of Vyvanse is way too much. I don't think they actually even let you have that much anymore).

Ok, dude, I'm just saying no matter how hard you believe it, it still MIGHT be all psychological. There's a good chance it isn't but the only way to know for sure is to get the test done with your spinal fluid.

  19. Believe me, I understand. Just think of it this way - if you do well in school, you'll be able to get a better job. A better job will allow you to spend more time doing what you love (usually), and allow you to buy much higher quality weed. Food for thought.

  20. I'm the same way man. You just kind of have to get over it and face reality I think. Use weed as your motivation if you have to.
