i have a 2x2 box. i have 3 plants. and i was wondering could i use a 100 w mh and a 150 w hps in that little box or would that be to much?? and what temp should the box be around?? and would a hps light even help veg any faster or better rather the mh by itself
Neither of those lights will provide enough Lumen to grow 3 plants. As I recall, a 100W MH is about 9,000 Lumen. A 150W HPS is about 16,000 lumen. Both of which are better suited to a max of two plants. How tall is your box? What kind of ventilation does it have? What are the ambient temperatures with no lights in the grow area? Optimal temp is ~78 degrees F. Swings from 65 with the lights off to the mid 80's with the lights on are acceptable. Yes. HPS is more adept at flowering. You can use MH for the whole grow, or HPS for the whole grow, but a mix of the two is optimal. Good luck.
You have 4 sq. ft. of grow area and a total of 24,000 lumens (8,000 from the MH, 16,000 from the HPS) so you're shining 6000 lumens per square foot. That's a good number. 5000-7500 lumens per sq. ft. is where you want to be. Definitely use both if you can keep the temps inline. GL!
