To harvest or not to harvest

  1. Hello again! So my first attempt at a grow resulted in one plant dying on week 6 of flowering.

But other one is still going. Not hugely productive but not bad for a first go.

Question is, I'm on week 10 day 3 of flowering and I didn't plan this far ahead. I've been looking at them for day and reading loads of blogs and getting conflicting in and basically confusing myself.

Would love some feedback on this. Have i left it too long? Should I chop it down? Any tips on next steps! 20240127_154406.jpg 20240127_154414.jpg 20240127_154421.jpg 20240127_154424.jpg 20240127_154439.jpg

  2. 10 weeks actual in flower is how I've run for over a decade. Nature triggers flower here in Southern California Aug 1st and the plants are ready to harvest mid Oct 10 weeks later. I run off season as well and find that same 10-week window works equally well.

Only chop down what you can trim in about 15 minutes. Don't take so much that it has time to wilt before you can get to it. Trimming goes so much faster when all the sugar leaves are plump and standing tall away from the buds.

You can cut the main stalk and use it as a hook for each branch. Southern California is very low humidity and if left hanging to long it'll over dry and be ruined.
I only hang until the smallest buds start to firm back up. Strip it all from the branches and chop into thumb sized nugs.

Place all the buds in cutdown and doubled paper bags.

Stack bags in a new closed trashcan at night and set the bags out during the day. Stir a few times a day to keep them drying evenly. This acts to slow the dry. I fought for years not understanding the rapid dry was my enemy and making all I grew taste like flaming dog shit.

As the days pass and the weed gets dry it'll need less time out per day. Your target is 65-62% humidity at the end of 7 days. Drying below 55% stops all biological life and will prevent any cure.

    Half gallon mason jars.

Boveda packs and a 60 day cure gets me as good as it gets.
