I'm personally tired of the term "terrorism" being used as a fear mongering word of propoganda to propel a destructive warmachine and attack civil liberties. Terrorism is a bogus con job and quite honestly played out, and there were never any "terrorists" to begin with. Thanks to this supposed terrorism we have Patriot Act, NDAA, any other things of the sort, and I don't want to hear this crap any more Rupert Murdoch!
Since there are acts of terrorism, the people who planned and carried out these acts are called terrorists. I think that the chance of major terrorism in the West has decreased somewhat, but it's still there.
Terrorism is the systematic use of terror as a means of coercion. A terrorist is a person who represents a threat to a vested interest. Strangely more people suffer from measure against those so-called terrorists than from "terrorism" itself. "Terrorism" is a high-order abstraction used for fear mongering in order to archieve a geostrategic agenda.
Terrorism has existed for generations, only recently has it been used for the reasons you listed above. If you want people to stop fear mongering, then target that, but to say terrorism does not or never did exist, is simply absurd.
I'm sick of the government telling me how to be safe. I'm sick of the media sensationalizing and spreading propaganda to get their agenda across. But I'm even more sick of the sheep that buy into it. Especially liberals that complained and bitched about the patriot act and all the other shit Bush did, but now that Obama is in the white house it's ok for the President to continue being a fuck head..
There is no entity "terrorism" that preys on individuals. The same can be said about "communism" or "socialism". It's only a high-order abstraction with no physical referent whatsoever. It's a pure mental construction. You're confusing words with things aka false-identifications. There are only people who are desesperate or misled and who commit acts of violence. You cannot really blame those people as they are victims of their own culture. The same can be said about any American who supports an aggresive foreign policy. We are all victims of our language and culture. There are no good or bad people. If you were born in Nazi-Germany you would be a nazi. If you were born as a headhunter in the Amazon and I would come and ask: "Doesn't it bother you to have five shrunken heads around your neck?". You would answer: "Yes, my brother has ten". I'm not saying violence is alright and that everything is justified as long as it is condoned by your culture. But people should be more inquisitive about the underlying motives of aberrant behavior instead of being so judgemental.
The United States of America. We are the real terrorist. We have been one for awhile. It's crazy on how people won't open their eyes about this and see we are the terror.
Terrorists are just the new Communists. The USA is only one example of this. There will usually be a "bad guy" that the government is protecting its citizens from, and you better believe they will use propaganda to justify their actions.
Modern reactionaries have switched their target(s) from Communism, since the collapse of the USSR. "Statists" are the new Communists.
