Tire question

Discussion in 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' started by iiLLmatic, Jan 28, 2011.

  1. Let me start by saying I really don't know shit about cars, so I could use some advice of people that do ;)

recently my tire popped in a place where apparently it can't be fixed, so I gotta buy a new tire. I found out that to replace my tire with a brand new one will cost around 140$..which i can't at all afford right now. I'm working on finding a used tire right now because i've been told they're cheaper. the size tire I need is 215/50r17 95v.

Anybody have any suggestions as to what i should do in order to save some money rather than pay full price for a brand new tire? Or even advise me as to what i should be paying? I'm tryin to not get taken advantage of at a shop, because its pretty obvious i don't know shit about my car. i drive an 02 stratus if that matters at all

Your local DT/AT shop will match the prices offline and give you a cheaper rate on install than if you have them shipped to yourself and brought them in. Free shipping, last I looked.

and for install they generally charge $25+ for each tire

edit: read somewhere that walmart does it for $10 a tire.

  3. thanks for the info....is that the price I should expect to pay? even for a used tire? All of those are 100+, i don't have the money for that right now and I can't keep riding around on this shitty spare.

  4. I don't know where to get used tires online...google it. Otherwise I think local will be your best bet.

Used tire should cost way less.
