edit - Decided to quit, going to use this thread as a little journal throughout the next month probably, as long as its no problem/breaking the rules etc... Just to express my thoughts, how I'm feeling, I think it could both help me realize why I should quit, and maybe show people why they shouldn't start I'm pretty sure that I'm going to make the attempt at quitting cig's again. Tried twice or 3 times before, failed everytime. Made it like a month once and started smoking again when my grandmother died (was really close to her). I really don't know if I'll be able to, any tips especially from people who have quit would be greatly appreciated. Saying things like just smoke green until you quit, although could possibly work, wont. For one I'm trying to avoid smoking good ol cannabis for awhile and if I did that, I'd prolly end up smoking way to often haha. Still not 100% sure if im gonna try though the thoughts been in my head. So yeah helppppp
everyone in my family who quits smoking so far quits cold turkey, and thats my best advice also. its hard yes, but once you are over that 3 day hump it gets easier. Just, no matter how much you want that cig, don't do it. think about all the harm its causing you and write down a list of the pros vs cons of smoking. every time you wanna smoke go read about all the bad shit you could think of about cigs. Remember that you wanted to quit and dont give in no matter how much it hurts. Requires a lot of self control. good luck man keep us posted.
Whenever you really, really want a smoke. Smoke a fake cigarette, it helps soothe the oral fixation of having a cigarette between your fingers and putting it to your mouth.
first off, if you're not 100% sure you want to quit, you won't. simple as that. you've gotta be READY to quit, cause it's hard as shit to do. I want to quit, and i set the time as whenever i finish the carton i bought the day before new years (cigs just went up a dollar a pack here in texas). I also started dipping cause it's gross, i'll throw in 1-3 plugs a day, whereas if i wasn't dipping, i'd smoke way more than that. As of right now, i only smoke when i drink, and i'm okay with that, for now. Bottom line is if your resolve is not steely, you won't make it. Just start thinking about the 400+ chemicals you're smoking every time you light up. It'll make you hate cigarettes. I've hated cigarettes for the past year and a half (i too had quit smoking once, gone 3 months, and then my best friend and his mom got shot in their house and died, and the next day my last surviving grandparent bit the big one. instantly i was 2 packs a day. I know how that goes. There was actually a group of about 5 of us that went to denny's every night to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes, and just try to laugh and shit. went on like that for a good 3 months). You've gotta know that you know that you know that you don't want to smoke anymore. it has to disgust you. As much as i hate smoking, smoking's my favorite, and that sucks. Good luck man.
I quit for a month, second half of december first half of january, but once I got back to college it was unavoidable and I'm back to around 15 a day. Ha.
jus remember how much shit is in that cig you wanna smoke, mass people die from that shit dont be one of um
People always tell me this, but it really isn't logical unless you're loaded rich, or sell and have enough weed for 20 good sesh's a day, when I roll a joint it costs around $8-$10 worth of dank, a cig costs $.25 lol.
it's all in the technique bro. I'm using this method to quit started this morning. I purchased an ounce and i already had a half. I'm loading up my dugout and taking 2 hits off of that instead of a cig. i go through about 2 grams a day to replace my cigs (not counting other sesh's). I look at it this way, the price i spend buying an O to help me quit my habit will ultimately save me a ton of cash down the road from not buying smokes The hardest thing for me has been not having a cig after i toke.. but at least my mind isnt craving it as hardcore as it was. I've been high all day and its gonna be that way for a week probably.. it still sucks i'm starting to get a fucking headache
There is a SSRI, wellbutrin that is supposed to have really good affects for quitting cigs. Ive read about this and others told me about it as well, they had taken this med for stress/aniexity and they ended up quiting cigs on it too.
I tried that last time, the minute I ran outta bud i went right back i thought tat the cravings got worse to be honest. Not to mention right now I'm like getting by paycheck to paycheck without buying any bud. just doesn't seem like a logical idea for ME. Could work for other people I have no idea. Well the biggest uncertianty is that I still have I believe 5 packs in my carton. I deffinitly want to quit, I'm just not sure when I'm going to start yet. I was thinking about giving the packs away and starting tommorow, or finishing em off and starting when my girl comes back from Europe (leaving in a few days). I think being with her more often would help me forget about smoking a lot easier.
Double post oh well. Day 1 - Finally almost over haha Superbowl really helped keep my mind off of smoking for awhile, decided against drinking too, I think I decided that I'm gonna stay completely sober while quitting this thing. Apparently I say really retarded things while craving cigs (according to my friends). Around the middle of the third quarter I knew my Colts won it made me think about cigs again haha, I made I think $600 over various bets . Right now writing this makes me want a cig more, so I guess I'll just stop.
i used to smoke cigs a lot, university tends to have that effect. it's hard to quit i won't lie, and i'll still have one from time to time but not daily. the thing that helped me to quit was simply realizing how fucking bad it tastes. as a smoker you don't realize it anymore cause you're used to it but stop for a day or two and then have one. your mouth will taste like the dirtiest ashtray ever. good luck in quitting
Well the first day of quitting is the hardest and thats for any drug addiction. So if you can get pass the 1st day you can get pass all the other days you crave the cigarettes. Get like some ice cream or something whatever else makes you happy. Smoke a blunt
Have you tried the Nicorette gum or the patches? And "Commit" lozenges work very well, and theyre super tasty one thing that helped me quit was having a GF who wanted me to quit. "It's been 3 days since my last cigarette" "Aww, honey, I'm so proud of you.." Smoochie smoochie, giggity giggity. Works every time.
