tips on helping me identify if the weed is indica/sativa/both?

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by rwilliams, Oct 18, 2006.

  1. Hi. I have smoked weed for about 4 years but i have never been able to determine if the weed i'm smoking is indica or sativa, but would like to be an expert on it. my highs usually seem to have mixed symptoms of both. is there anything i can be looking for, any sign, something obvious that makes it easy to tell if it's an indica or sativa?

  2. Indicas tend to have chunkier buds, that are more smelly and give you more of a body high. Sativa's a usually more conically shaped and are fluffier, and give you a more cerebral high. A lot of the time chances are you are getting a mix, as it's probably been crossed sometime.

  3. I see. but I want to be able to identify the weed based on the high, not just the structure, you get what i'm saying? and most of the time i just can't tell if it's a "head high" or a "body high"

  4. Most times you smoke up, you'll have symptoms of both. But typically, with a body high, you'll get a lot of bodily sensations. Perhaps the desire to stretch out or massage certain parts of your body. And couchlock.
When I first learned about the whole "body/head high" deal, I found that it was a little harder to recognize whether the bud was really sativa. You become very high - for me it feels as if my head's flying (not literally) - and you have pretty much no bodily sensations. You might confuse your intense head high for a body high, because it might seem like you have bodily sensations, when you really don't. Your head high just may seem to intensify things that your body may feel.
I'm not sure if all this really made much sense, but it makes sense to me and my experiences. Have you ever noticed that certain strains seem to give you different types of highs? It doesn't always have to be the differentiation between head and body high. Some buds may promote lethargic behavior whereas others make you want to get up and do something.

  5. thanks for drawing it out for me bro. +rep. i think i understand the concept better now.

  6. in my experience, the first time i got a hold of what i think was pure pure sativa bud, the difference was really marked. I had really strong symptoms of the following: rapid thoughts (you jump topic to topic and make really bizarre associations), pretty intense perception distortion (not hallucination, but you know what i mean if you smoke weed, music sounded a lot different, things just looked different, etc.), A LOT of the excited giggles (my friends and I were much happier, and very talkative).
Obviously any weed gives you these sorts of symptoms, but i got them much more acutely, and I didnt get any of the body high that comes with indica blends. It was all about my thought process and my perception.

I enjoyed it a lot more, made me want to think and talk and see and do, as opposed to sit and feel. (i also found the comedown was a little easier, i didnt feel as beat, my head was a little fuzzy, but i didnt feel as dopey)

  7. ^ yeah dude right now it is difenetly a sativa high.... it was some fucking dank ass shit though..... but pretty much everything you just described i''m having semptoms of them. I can deffinetly identify when i DO have the indica high though.....
