i've made it through and over fetilization.. a bug infestation... over watering.. under watering ... many problems .... my plants were slowyly drying out ... but now they are better ... they stopped gowing so i transplanted them into bigger self-watering pots ... and now they have started growing again... the problem now is... how come on all the leaves of all three plants... even the new leaves ... the tip of them keep turning yellow and trying out ... its just the very tips of the leaves.... the rest of the leaves seem to be very healthy... i have 160 watts of flouro .. in a 2 foot wide by 4 foot long by 4 foot high box ... a fan that runs about 4 hours a day ... and self watering pots(type u put water in the bottom) ... they are growing in soil ... i havent been using any ferts latly .. cause i just put them in new soil ... any theories?? should i use a light amount of ferts?
how close are the fluros to the plant possibly too close?? also, could be nute lock, you could try flushing the medium, with a few litres of water and see if what runs out is a piss yellow colour, but i don't know how that works with self watering pots....Peace out...Sid
the closest light is about 5 inches away ... then some are about 7-8 .. then the 2x 40 watt bulbs are about 2 feet away ... last night i got a moisture meter ... light meter .. and ph meter and thermometer ... my moister level is at ten near the bottom... i think that is too much ...the little pamphlet says that if it is 4-8 ... plants that are often watered should be watered ... and 8-10 i shouldnt add any water ...maybe this is the correct amount?? the light meter read at about 200-300 (lumens i geusse)near the plants... the ph level is at 7 ... and temp is around 80-82 ... anything that could be changed ??? maybe i should put less water in the resevoir of the self watering containers ... or should start watering them from the top ???
Personally i wouldn't use self watering pots at all....when the plant gets bigger it uses more water and even more water again when flowering, so it's hard to control in them pots you're talking about.....the temp is slightly high...keep it under 80 degrees farenheit...(ps lift a temp at the top of the plant not below as that is the temp the tips are getting)...it does sound like heat stress....keep the fan and lights on 24/7...pps put you're hand between the lights and the top of the plants...if it seems too hot for you're hand it's too hot for the plants....hopefully you will lift a temp at the top of the plant and tell me it's something like 90 degrees and that will be the problem you're having with the leaves....ps you don't have anywhere near enough light as whats generally recommended is 2000lumens per square foot....you said you're grow room is 2x4=8square feet= aneed of approx 10,000 lumens....under this the plants will appear to be quite long stems and not bust out enough....check again and make sure it is reading lumens...if so i'd suggest more light....or possibly a smaller box but....how many plants is there??.....Peace out...Sid
tips are turning brown and dying?? Overfert or salt build-up from a bad fertilizer i.e over fertilizing with Miracle grow.
when i put my hand in between the plant and the light.. its not hot at all.. doenst even seem to warm up very much ... yeah... i dont think the light reading is for lumens.. it doesnt say anything ... just light reading ... and it has a scale that goes from 200 - 500 - 2000 ... im sure that there is enough light... they plants are pretty bushy ... and the stem isnt stretching ... i have three plants ... its not over ferting as i am not even using ferts right now ... i just put new soil in .. and they seem to be growing fine though... just the tips keep turning yellow ... last night i flushed the soil like u said .. the water did turn out a piss yellow ... dont know if it helped though .. yet..
