Well, I put my 4-piece metal Sharpstone grinder in the freezer so I could knock some kief down from the top and screen, but after looking at my results and trying to screw the bottom back on, it screwed on the wrong way. Usually when this happens and it's "half-screwed" on just one side, I just push the opposite side up with a little force and then it's fixed. This time though, after it popped back into what I thought was the correct position, it wouldn't unscrew. I've been trying to open it for hours with many different methods (brute force, freezer again, soaking in hot water while covered in saran wrap, rubber gloves, using my lighter to heat it up, and combinations of all of those). I don't know what else I can do. Anyone else had this problem and found a solution to fix it? I'm just hoping I won't have to buy a new grinder...

  2. mine was like that and my friend just put it on the ground and stepped on it and it popped right on

  3. I'm passed the stage of popping up the other half, the problem is it's on all the way but won't unscrew whatsoever. :/

  4. Try to heat the top part with a little torch and put the bottom on an ice block or get it cold. Idk for sure if that would work but it might

2 pipe wrenches in opposing directions or if you have access to a bench vice and some channel locks.

  6. This, brute force is your only option at this point

  7. ^ This exactly except add a torch on the threaded parts for a little bit it'll loosen the joints.

  8. The torch will actually make the metal contract, and it may become easy to open.....DO NOT burn yourself:smoking:;)

No torch necessary. Two pairs of channel locks will break that shit loose. Wrap it with a rag or something so you don't scratch it.

Your threads are probably already fucked on this grinder so you'll have to be extra careful screwing it back on if it will even thread on again. If you can get it to go together right and it's tight screw and unscrew it a bunch of times (not completely) then clean it good to get rid of any metal shavings.

You have to remember you never force the threads and you have to make sure it's going on right, you don't push or twist on the piece if it's not going on or it's getting tight. That's how you fuck your threads up. As you did.

And honestly I can't think of a damn reason to put your grinder in the freezer. Where did you hear that bright idea? Just wash it with iso. The reason to freeze bud for making hash is to make the stalks of the trichomes brittle so they break off the plant material. This does not apply to grinders in any way. The shit will still be all stuck and smeared on the metal in the cold temperature.

  10. Thats what i meant just a little to high to be putting together cognitive sentences haha:smoking: And yes please dont burn yourself

Thanks for all the help, everyone. I'll hopefully have a chance to try this stuff out and post back this weekend. :D

I actually heard it on here and it works pretty decently for a bit of extra kief if you don't have time to fully go through the iso process. Supposedly if you freeze it for 15 - 20 minutes and then hit the sides/bottom of the grinder with a little force (I just hit the counter a couple times) it loosens a bit of kief and it'll fall down into the catcher. Of course an iso wash is the way to go for a full cleaning, though. :)

  12. Finally got a chance to take it to a friend's house that owns a vice and other tools. He unscrewed and fixed my grinder tonight in about 10 minutes! Pretty happy with the amount of kief I accumulated over this last month too! XD
