tinctures

    I would like to make some marijuana tinctures now the big problem is they say to use 80% - 100%

    But being the uk the most i could find was 40% Russian standard vodka :(

    would that work to make tincture?

    just ticked off you cant get any higher unless you get moonshine

    Well I'm making myself potka, and I'm only using stems and 40 % vodka. I read that 40 % is the weakest alcohol you should use, so you guys don't have any Everclear in the UK? Its probably for the better lol.

    I wish. Seems like 40% vol is the limit places stock.
    I picked up every bottle of vokda in store and they started at 17.5% mid range was 35% but the max was 40% which sucks ass.

    My friend who i dont see for ages he has 100% vodka but thats moonshine. i dont see him for ages so just stuck with the 40%

    You can't get any 151 over there? Bacardi 151 is 75.5%

    It's not Vodka, It's Rum. I don't know if that makes a difference. I've never made any Tinctures.

    bacardi here is different i believe. I know you can get 50% some place even 80% whiskey from specialist offlicense.

    Not sure if my absynthe is stronger but i dont think that would go well with marijuana
    as its like minty and made from wormwood

    40% vol is 80 proof from what the vodka website says.

    Just one last question.

    What is the best way to make the tincture do you need to soak the buds before you make the tincture?

    or can you dry cure them and then use them as a tincture.
    I am starting off from harvest to tincture so i dont know if i need to water cure them ,cure them normally or just put them in the alcohol

    Well it would work best once the buds are properly cured.

    So just do everything normally like harvest the buds ,dry them ,cure them for several months
    then once cured make a tincture?.

    Would all the nasty compounds be removed once its cured?

    Yuck, alcohol tinctures are awful, try my glycerin based tincture.

    Well if your growing yourself you can just make potka with all your left over trim, you wouldn't have to even use any buds.

    The 40% will work, but not as well as a higher proof. You dry the buds, blenderize them to small bits and add to the alcohol. Rum is basically flavored alcohol- using it will alter the flavor, but not the potency. Doing a water cure first will make the tincture less flavorful- whether this is a good thing or not depends on if you like the flavor of cannabis. The potency won't be affected.

    Another, slower method is to use glycerin instead of vodka. Glycerin can be found at your local health food store. It is a sweet syrupy stuff that does not burn your mouth like alcohol, and is used in children's medicines a lot. Being thicker, you have to stir it now and then, rather than just letting it sit a month like alcohol. Otherwise it's the same process. The longer it sits with the cannabis in it, the more potent it will be (up to a point). A Dutch nurse I was talking to let her tinctures sit for 2 months before straining and bottling.

    THC degrades under light and heat. Store your tincture in a brown bottle or in a dark place. My health food store sells small dropper bottles that work fine!

    Thing is i dont want to smoke marijuana anymore and i am to poor to afford a vape
    On top of that i get very paranoid about smoking weed.

    This grow i kind of messed up by giving it to much organic miracle grow then i flushed it out with 12 liters of water and well i dont fancy smoking it. I worry about my lungs :(

    So eating it would be the next best thing. I always wanted to make a tincture my last attempt failed because of the weak ass alcohol.

    This time i got 80 proof.

    If i can make a good tincture and medicate using a good indica then i can continue to treat my depression. When i toke up on indica i feel normal again.

    So i am thinking Tincture then using it to make food you can put alcohol in food or just drink it.
    maybe it tastes like ass but i am used to drinking all sorts of weird and wonderful herbal drinks.
