Tinctures-Alcohol Based ( Sublingual Vs. Oral )

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by SplitGenetics, Apr 26, 2014.

  1. So I've been making a lot of tinctures lately and I always use the sublingual method, and I love it. Helps all my issues and is the perfect medicine for easy quick use when out and even in the house, just an eye dropper under the tongue for a minute or two and that's it.
The method I use to make my tinctures is, I use 4 grams of high grade cannabis (I used Durban Poison for my last batch, also have a little hash plant tincture left) to a liquid ounce of 192 proof alcohol. I use the hot method usually to make things quick but use the cold method a good amount also.. Anyway,
I'm just wondering for the people who use tinctures, with the information I gave you, how much does it take for you to be extremely medicated? And do you only soak it under the tongue or does anybody ever drink it or put it in capsules and swallowed it? I know it takes more but what are your effects to orally swallowing tinctures? I'm trying to see if it effects others in a way orally and potently. Thanks for hearing me out. I'd like to hear some feedback

  2. I am obsessed with the idea of tinctures administered sublingually. I've never had the pleasure of using 190 proof to extract, only 151. How well does it work sublingually?

The only time I got to decarb was when I extracted with 80 proof :/ I would use that sublingually but ended up swallowing anyway

  3. Both the 190 and the 151 work well sublingually but it takes a bit more of the lower proof. The tradeoff is that the 151, at least with rum, is that it doesn't burn as much and can be a bit sweeter. When you do anything sublingually you're going to swallow anyway so the goal is just to keep it in your mouth as long as you can. Usually with a sublingual dose, any remaining tincture, if alcohol, will be absorbed by the time it reaches your stomach. The 80 proof would require more and therefore wouldn't be as efficient for that method of dosing.  :)
