Tied down plants.... part 2

  1. Tied down my plants 3 days ago. Havent seen any growth on the lower part of the plant, except for a few tiny leaves at the internode. But.... the plants don't look half as healthy, some leaves starting to turn brown, brown spots etc. Only gave them plain water since, tie down. What could be the problem?

  2. thought about it and the only thing I did differnt was use tap water. I let it set for a day before use but..... I had always used rain water until then.

  3. you will see a big differnce in about 2 weeks time.

Its the PH of the tap water, test it out with a PH test kit (u can find them at pet stores, they sell them for fishtanks.) should be about 6.7

    goodluck

  4. yeah, i always have bucket's filled so all the carp can evaporate outta them.. i tied dwon two of my outdoor plants and they didn't show a change for a week or two.. so yeha.. patience..

  5. Could it possibly be because of Chlorine in the tap water... Or other such chemicles commonly found in the tap?

  6. thanks all, I believe it was the tap water. I let it set 24 hours, etc. Switched back to rain water and plants look better. Good thing we had a flood over the weekend and I filled all my buckets. Good grows.........

  7. Glad to hear it was just the water and everything is returning to normal :D Any possibility of pics?

  8. u live in the city that explains it cuz if its well water then the ph shouldnt be that high still i dont check it lost of reain round here lately

  9. Sorry no pics. I'm about as techno as a caveman. Havent figured out how to digitize my Kodak Brownie. Thanks again all.

  10. keep an eye on it though, could be the tapwater but sitting for a day i'd think the chlorine would mostly fade out. You ferting at all?
Let me know if the situation changes and plant gets any better.

  11. Using Pure Blend Pro, once per week. Using 1/4 tbl.spoon per gallon of water. Damage didnt look like fert. burn. Looked unlike any of the "sick plant" pics. on any of the grow sites I visit. Thought about Mag. def. added 1/4 tbl.sp. of K-mag to my water the last time just in case. I know I need a ph meter, but can't find one in this podunk area I live in.

The plants look better, no more damage. Starting to see some growth from the tie down. Odd think is, I had a sick plant that I didn't tie down originally. I "fimmed" it or attempted to. Thinking that it wouldnt live anyway. After a few days I tied it down as it showed more vigor. It has shot new growth out everywhere. It is far ahead of the tied down plants that I did not "fim". Plants have been tied down for 10 days now. The final ties where I got the top cola horiz. was 8 days ago. So far the fimmed plant is far outgrowing the others.
