Okay so something weird is going on. My ti pad is usually heated on the bottom of my pad, where I don't dab, but somehow while that area is fine and dandy and still metallic, the side where I dab is getting white. I don't torch that side nor do I overheat. What's going on? Is it titanium oxide, because if it was ashes leftover it should have been gone from retorching.
I have no clue man sorry. Maybe a more experienced dabber can help ya out. I'll look for that thread.
How long have you had it? The 'white stuff' might just be the black residue left after a dab, that has burned white during heating...If you're that concerned you can scrape it off with a tooth brush, but i'd say you're fine.
Had it for two weeks turned white in one. The side where I dab it is white The side where I torch is still metallic
Are you heating your skillet to red hot? If so it isn't necessary, you're just accelerating the rate at which your Ti will oxidize.
Probably is. Is it bad to continue dabbing with an oxidized nail. And why it oxidizes within a week, perhaps I never will know..maybe a fake gr 2 nail. It says made in USA and gr 2 on the back
Just clean it off with some steel wool and wash it off with some water (no soap), you're going to be fighting a losing battle, though.
That's the size I dab on & never torch. I torch the other side only. That pix is after I torched it. Looked worse before I heated. Chinese rip off probably. Just ordered highly educated Flower of life ti-pad on *** for $23
I was the other with this problem, are you dabbing only the finest hash oils/waxes? cause i had residue come from my dabs, it was like ash just really fine grey/white ash coated on there. It still freaked me out so i went out and bought a 30 dollar dome set with a quartz nail. best choice ever.
Problem with quartz is I don't want a hot nail breaking and flying into my eyes or elsewhere. I use top shelf honeycomb wax at cannabis clubs. I am determined that its just the skillet pad.. It's from a smoke shop and they have low quality ti.
i dont see when that would ever happen to a quartz nail? they really dont break, i mean ive had glass nails break after like a month but it just cracks and falls into the dome... its not like a lethal shot of glass at you hahaha. anyways its up to you but i see TI pads as a thing of the past. plus domes are much more efficient.
I'm looking into essential vapes. Efficient and no loss of vapor with better taste than nails or pads . But on the subject of pads, I do like the taste better on pad than nail, and love that its all in one rig and not many pieces. It all comes down to personal preference. I just wish they have unbreakable glass then id be all over that.
if you like skillets and one pieces so much you should get a noodle... or a quartz pad. I dont trust TI pads, that oxi has to be bad fo yo lungs dawg.
What's a noodle. And quartz err is there a stronger glass than that? I would hate buying new skillets monthly ESP when my shipping address is my aunts house. She's like wtf every month you get this for? Haha one time is okay I'd be like its a Xmas present lmao This is the reason I'm looking into essential vapes for full melt and honeycomb
