Throwing up after smoking (Not Green Out)

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by CharlieBrown17, Dec 13, 2018.

  1. Hello,

I am a Canadian university student who’s been having problems with smoking lately and would love to hear your guys insight on it.

Within the past couple of months, when I smoke kush I have been throwing up after. Sometimes it’s 10-30 minutes after, and sometimes it’s an hour or two after. It is not the amount I smoke that causes it, as at most I’m smoking 0.25-0.5g (Sharing a J, using a one hitter, or hitting a small bowl). I am a lightweight, at only 120lb (male).

I do not think I am greening out as I do not feel sick, instead I will suddenly and randomly feel bloated and needing to burp very badly, at which point I will need to rush to a washroom as the burping will eventually turn to puking. After throwing up I do not feel sick, tired, bloated, instead I typically feel the same as I was before feeling bloated or even better, and I will go back continuing doing what I was doing. In some occasions I will throw up again a second time in the same way as the first, an sudden unexpected need to burp.

During my highs I typically just watch movies, eat, and talk with friends. It does not matter the scenario, the activity, or the people, as sometimes I smoke alone and find myself needing to puke. Another “symptom” I have noticed lately is I have become very self aware and self shaming when I smoke, but this is not my main concern right now, but if it helps identify the problem I think it should be noted.

I have found alcohol to begin to show similar symptons aswell, as after only 1 or two shots, or a couple of beers, I find myself needing to burp/feeling bloated, throwing up, then being completely fine right after and going back doing what I was doing. So I know it’s not alcohol poisoning (I also eat a meal before I drink so it’s not because of an empty stomach).

I know the typical response is it man-up, and I’m being a pussy, but Ive only recently started to notice this, I have been smoking for about 2 years and only began to notice this in the past couple months, same with the alcohol problem. I have tried a bunch of different remedies, such as changing the strain, changing the method of intake, drinking lots of water before during & after, changing the way I inhale (smaller intakes), eating before smoking, walking around, getting fresh air, lying down. I have tried researching into this topic but to no avail. Although I do not throw up every single time I smoke, it is the majority and it’s a big upset. especially since kush was legalized in Canada.

I would love to hear your guys thoughts on what this might be, and maybe if you experienced it or know someone who experienced it and you could share how you solved it, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    CharlieBrown17

  2. Sounds to me like you are getting gas in your stomach as you smoke and that's what's doing the nasty to you.Sometimes I get an upset stomach from vaping and if I burp it helps, never got sick but close.I just tried some Alka Seltzer about a week ago and it did help, must get some more.Oh and I was gifted a very small amount of CBD and I find that when my stomach gets upset and I get a headache from vaping that if I vape the CBD then tummy feels better and headache goes away.

But fear not because many people get upset stomachs when smoking so you are not alone. You won't die from it and I imagine that you will find a remedy.Chewing gum may help. But try the Alka Seltzer or try Pepto Bismol before you toke just to coat your stomach.

    Good luck :D

  3. Puking after taking a little alcohol or pot. Very odd. If you don't puke after drinking soft drinks I doubt gas is causing your problem. I can't think of any reasonable explanation for your problem. And you never puke otherwise?
I'm more concerned about you shaming yourself. I'm wondering if that is connected to your odd puking symptoms. I have no idea what you've done to be ashamed of but I suppose if it's bad enough it could cause physical symptoms.

  4. The mind is a powerful weapon.
It could be your self-shame that triggers your mind to desire to void the cause.

You can overcome it, but you will need to come to terms with why you feel shamed.

  5. Irritating stomach or allergic. That's what I'm thinking.

    Go see a doctor.

  6. I would try something like GasX or similar and see if that helps. If that doesn't clear it up I would go to the doctor, there seems to be an underlying problem there. I have never had those symptoms myself with cannabis or alcohol.

  7. It's also possible that your liver is producing too much of a certain enzyme, making you super sensitive to cannabinoids. Go to the doctor, dude. It's better to be safe than sorry.

  8. I haven't heard that before, what enzyme are you talking about?

  9. I think it's CYP? It's involved with the metabolism of whatever enters the body, and it seems THC and CBD are inhibitors.

  10. I think CYP is a liver enzyme that's involved in both alcohol and THC metabolism so at least it does make a connection between THC and alcohol. I don't think it affects the stomach but perhaps you're on to something.

  11. This right here is why we need more research and medical studies done with cannabis. All we've got to work with are verbal accounts of a wide range of symptoms, and it's a guessing game from there.

Still, it's fascinating to learn about.

  12. Another case for getting cannabis off the controlled drug list.

  13. For how long and how heavily have you been smoking?
