Started to notice tiny transparent yellow dots that seemed to turn into holes on the fan leaves. Upon further inspection of the underside i noticed tiny little insects that moved like a worm. The research i did points me at Thripes. Any suggestions on identifying and how to safely remove and prevent these would be greatly appreciated.
Thrips are an absolute nightmare to deal with, and extremely hard to get rid of. I have had them for a very long time and keep the numbers down as best I can but have given up trying to rid them completely. However, I have never seen thrips make holes right through the leaves like that
Also notice white circles and this thing flying around. Definitely had a fly problem. Maybe that could be related?
I don't know what kind of fly that is but I doubt its anything to worry about. Those rings are from splashing the leaves with water and as the droplets dry, they leave dissolved solids behind
insecticidal soap and neem oil. they are a pain. the worm like ones are the babies. the adults fly and jump.
Thank you guys for the quick response! Hopefully i caught this problem early enough to fight them off.@goldgrower when i looked up symptoms of Thripes they mentioned spots that look like dried spit, so thats what i was thinking. @thatguygrows i also noticed little white things flying around upon further inspection. All a new learning experience and seems i have alot of learning to do. So far ive cut the leaves affected and will spray them with Azamax
