Thoughts on why weed will never be legal in all of america and canada

  1. Just wanted to put my thoughts out about this.

Fist off, when a bill is passed to make something illegal, it is a very long, and difficult process to get the bill removed. Because it is such a long process, the government would put this off as they have more important things to deal with. For a bill to be removed, there would have to people in the government that would want this to be removed. Therefore, you would have to get a pot friendly president elected ( which would be oh so difficulty ) and he would have to choose people that are also pot friendly. Secondly, if pot were to be legal, it wouldnt be for recreational use, but for medicinal use. Now heres the problem with this. Pharmaceutical companies wouldnt be able to patent marijuana, which means they wouldnt make any money. Pot would replace oxycontin, hydromorphine and all those kind of pain killers, which as you know, would make the pharmaceutical companies lose money, and they would never want that to happen so they would use everything in their power to fight it. Finally, the government has spend all this time producing propaganda against marijuana and they seem "smart" to people against marijuana and drugs in general. If it were to be legalized, it would make the government look very stupid seeing how they spent all this time and money in the war on drugs. This would make the government questionable in general as to what they do ( something that they dont want )

    anyways, those are my thoughts

  2. You just now realized all of this? :p

    I wouldnt say never though.

  3. Nah, there's no doubt it's illegal because it opens up the gateway to hell.

  4. All we need is for the recession to continue. The siren song of increased tax revenue will be calling to the states...

  5. Weed is illegal because it is dangerous. Here, this 100% factual video from the honest US govt will explain everything.

  6. It will never be legal. Thing is who would buy over priced product? All you need to do is get a pot and a seed.

  7. I don't really see how Cannabis is going to eliminate the need / want for painkillers like oxycodone...

    But legalize all day.

  8. it wont eliminate it completely, but it will reduce a good amount of the people that use oxy's. For me, i have very bad knee pain at times and i'd rather smoke a bowl then take an oxy for the pain

  9. Hi guys,

I think it WILL be legal, and within my lifetime at that (I'm 20).

It should be legal, and I think more and more people - even nonsmokers - are beginning to realize this.

  10. if legalized, states will have increased tax revenue. and since the prices are lower in a legal market, common smokers will be paying less. thus, having more money for other consumption.

I was reading this article about alcohol prohibition: The Real Reason for FDR's Popularity - Mark Thornton - Mises Daily
change having a few drinks to smoking some bud.

    copypaste:
Repeal was a win-win proposition. Imagine living during Prohibition, when having a few drinks could jeopardize the family budget, when politicians and law enforcement were completely beholden to organized crime, when gunfire on the city streets was a common event. Then imagine, almost overnight, prices plunging, employers hiring, politicians and organized crime reeling, and crime dropping dramatically.

  11. You think RMJL will change her name then?

  12. Never? .... NEVER?!

I think you're right. I've never seen a difference between recreational and medicinal pot use, but that is how the situation has evolved. I believe that it can benefit anyone.

  13. There will also always be people that abuse medical marijuana for getting high. The government will see that as a deterrent to legalize it for medicinal use.

  14. why wont people just stop lying and say they smoke pot for the high. i do. i like to smoke for the high. i have, no pain, no problems that drive me to doing it. i do it for the hell of it. even if i was in pain i don't think i would know the difference and also i know that if i did have problems, after my high, my problems would still be there.

  15. Recreational use IS medicinal use. It cures my boredom (amongst other things).

  16. There are many reasons as to why government will never want to legalize marijuana but it all goes back to the basics. Marijuana generally makes people come together and unite. It's a peaceful drug in nature and everyone on this board can generally agree on that statement. So if people come together we as society in America will slowly start to shift into a more socialist movement hence possibly becoming a socialist nation (absolutely nothing wrong with that for you who know the true meaning behind socialism) Our whole lives we've been taught that communism is wrong and capitalism is right. Well look at us now..Capitalism has caused the diminshment of the middle class and the scary rapid growth of the poor class. The powerful elites that are running this country do NOT want to give up their wealth to make things equal for everyone else. That's why I think marijuana will never be legalized liberally unless the general mass wants it to become legalized.

  17. communism is good to a certain extent, but very bad. Look at russia, they dont have free speech, very restricted internet, TV, and i doubt they are encouraging of marijuana use

  18. well according to Karl Marx, his explanation as to why Russia never succeeded as a communistic state is because Russia never went through a capitalistic process before transforming to communism..his thought was in order for pure communism to succeed..capitalism must come before it in order for the proletariats can recognize the oppression set by the bourgeiouse...It's a shame how possibly one of the most brilliant social scientist of his time and today can be vilified by so many without knowing in detail his logic...btw I support any government thats pro human rights, has compassion towards it's neighbors, treats people equally regardless of sex, religion, gender, and sexual orientation.

btw this is all college education talking..Sociology ftw!!

  19. karl max is the guy from the late 1700's right? because if he is, then we shouldn't base our society on his principals. Sure they were great for its time, but times change and so do ideas.
