Has anyone used these self watering pots? What do you think the benefits and negatives would be? What soil mix/medium would you use and how would ph be monitored? I'm all for easy growing, so just trying to work out the best method of using them.

I'm also looking at hempy style with perlite/coco mix.

  2. Looks interesting but pricey. I use Airpots myself. Find them to be great. As for how you monitor PH well you would have to do that prior which is what you do if your growing in soil. Just add nutes to water PH balance the whole thing. Plants gobble up water as they get bigger pretty fast so fluctuations you don't have to monitor. By the time you went to check it again once its in flowering most of it would probably be gone.

  3. I thought they were pretty reasonable at $10 for a 3 gal pot. What kind of medium do you think? I looked at that new Botanicare Slacker mix. Trying to decide between this, hempy style or a dwc bubbler bucket. I'll have to look in to airpots...

  4. Oh i didnt see 10 bucks...not bad at all. Must of misread. I use Fox Farms Ocean soil or ProMix usually

  5. Just make your own bubble bucket or tub. Easy and way cheaper! And it will work just as well as a commercially made one.

  6. Not opposed to that at all. Was planning on a bubbler bucket, but the bucket and lid with netpot is $10 straight off before you even start with air pumps and stones, so these seemed like an ok deal...just trying to find info and tips on how to best utilize them. To be honest, I don't really care about cost...I am all about convenience. Plus it saves me chopping my fingers off!

  7. I agree with that. I coulda made a tent enclosure for my grow area but way easier to buy it. 10 bucks is a good deal.

Check out airpots as well. I have had great success with them. I grow pretty large plants in 2 gallon ones. The only crappy thing is I have to water in the bathtub since all the excess water runs out the sides. The results are astounding though. Have had 30 inch plants in 1 gallon airpots. The roots utilize literally every inch of soil since there airpruned by the holes and grow inside.

  8. This pots are amazing. I am saving this link I am gonna try using these pots. I like to grow inside so not only would I be saving water but I wouldn't have to worry about the water coming out the bottom of the pot.

  9. Commercial crap and a waste of money, IMO. Check out this thread...

I've been growing indoors for over three years now. I've been using this method of watering for about 6 months. IMO, the most efficient and easiest way to hydrate potted plants.

As far as soil goes, I'm a bit of a purist. Mix your own organic soil. Then you don't need to worry about monitoring pH.

  10. Had a quick look. Interesting. Are they available in the US? I think I was looking at a UK site.

  11. Thanks for the links. I am interested in a home made organic mix.
