Thoughts on FFOF?

  1. I'm a Promix guy thru and thru and was recently talked into purchasing FFOF (iv'e heard about it ad nauseam). I up-potted a beautiful (photoperiod) Power Plant into a 5gal container of FFOF (with some added perlite) and it's been hell ever since..I'm not feeding this plant because of how rich the media is purported to be...I had obvious PH issues almost immediately (way too acidic) and lockout of some mobile nutrients, the plant looked awful.. I finally got my PH in check (i use 2-3 separate meters) for accuracy and immediately she started displaying signs of nitrogen toxicity...This media isn't exactly cheap, i was expecting different...i don't think i'll ever use it again and will be ordering a fresh bale of Promix soon...Does anyone out there religiously use this stuff? Am i missing some nuance with FF soil i don't know about? I'd love to get some input/ opinions...I've flushed a few times and i swear it just keeps getting darker green and leaves curl more ... these plants are the identical strain but the one on the right is dying in it's overpriced media...would love some suggestions, i'll try just about anything right now.. *2nd week flower, 5gal, soil (now) 6.6PH......

  2. I have had great results with it

  3. This is what i always hear, but i'm far from impressed...have you had better results with FFOF than other media you've tried? Do you ever have to add anything to bring the PH down? Nutrients were locked out within the first week and a half it went into that media, i had no choice but to adjust PH or deal with the rampant cal-mag def, it took 2 tablespoons of lime to get it to 6.5 (what they claim is their starting PH) and to bring the color back ..I've had way better results using dollar store indoor potting soil...i feel like i'm missing something, or got a bad bag...I love FF nutes but this media will only cost us time and money... I guess i'm looking for someone to confirm that this stuff is garbage or someone who's dealt with similar issues with this product so i feel less crazy...

  4. I have only used Happy frog for seedlings and Ocean forest for Veg and Flower so far, havent tried another soil yet. Right now I am reusing it from my previous grow, but with amendments to refresh.
I did not have PH issues yet and the oyster shell in the Ocean forest usually keeps it right around 6 for me. I always PH my water and feed to around 6.0 to 6.4 though too

  5. I started a few months ago with ocean forest and have now changed over to coco.
10x easier to control and i have noticed faster growth
And coco is cheaper aand reusable

  6. I agree with soilless for indoors..i always use (and re-use) Promix and never have issues that can't be handled with minor adjustments...I just flushed her again today with 2.5 gallons @6.0ph... it's really shitty timing for this, she's going into her 3rd week of flower :/ ..

  7. Only 1 grow under my belt, but was FFOF and I had basically no probs at all. I used FFOF, worm castings, perlite, and Myco. No nutes(except calmag) until week 5. Then FF nutes at 1/4 strength and working up to full.

  8. FFOF/HF/LW and perlite mix amended with dry organic fertilizer and water only until wk.7 is my 0 defects medium. Auto grower.

  9. Using FFOF for the first time currently and the girls love it. Been vegging for like 4 weeks now with no nutes and no issues. Planning on using FF bloom nutes when I make the switch to 12/12
