Anybody good with pumps? I'm narrowing it down to these 3 air pumps for delivering oxygen to my DWC system, & I could use some guidance, reviews, or whatever. EcoPlus Commercial Air 1 - 18 Watts Single Outlet General Hydroponics Dual Diaphragm Air Pump 600gph Sunleaves DuraPump I've got the Growlab 145 (4x4 tent) housing a 4-site recirculating DWC. Since I'll be using strictly CFL, the temps won't be getting as high as a normal indoor grow. I've heard these single-outlet pumps can get pretty warm & put out hot air into my buckets....would that be a good or bad thing for my setup? And is the General Hydroponics dual diaphragm any good, or is it just gimmicky? thanks for advice...
I use 110 watt air pumps with 8" stones. They rock my plants world. The better equipment you can afford now just make the leap or you will just be replacing it all in 2 yrs when you wanna upgrade. The GH is the most power efficient by far but the most cost up front and with not the highest output either. They have a horizontal piston and blow air on both piston slides not just one like a commercial style but you would need many of then to compete with the output of a power sucking commercial style air pump. However the commercial ones DO produce more heat then the others but its nothing that cant be controlled. The little bit of warmer air that it shoots out can be solved by hooking a hose to the intake hole and running it to a ac vent, now its sucking ice cold air. Also they put off about as much heat as a ballast or uhh say a 60 watt incandescent light bulb but if its a problem its possible to keep them out of the room, they are just a little loud. In a completely quiet house they would be heard by anyone on the same floor. I always say the more the better with bubbles and light. That's all I got for ya but ultimately you will have to decide. My votes on the highest output commercial one you can afford but if your worried about noise or heat then don't get the commercial one(s) go for the gh.
Amazon.com: Hydrofarm AAPA45L 20-Watt 45-LPM Active Aqua Commercial Air Pump with: Patio, Lawn & Garden i use the 70LPM pump and holy shit! I run 6 buckets with 0 problems. All of my buckets have great bubbles. im sure that the 45lpm pump is a bit "weaker" so to speakbut for 4 buckets it should be perfect.
GH Dual Diaphragm Air Pump ALL DAY!!!! They are a little pricey when compared to others, but these things are BEASTS! I have 12 of them right now in one of my rooms. I use them for the same thing. I have found that my plants absolutely love it when I just connect two air stones per pump. I shit you not! My roots reach down into the bucket and suck the air stones into the center of the root mass.
