Ok, sorry, I didn't immediately give my plans. I was going to include them in that post but wanted a couple minutes to think about a short and concise platform. If I was president, I would try and reduce the size of government and abolish as many bureaucracies as possible. The agencies that would probably be first go would include the CIA, FDA, DEA, Department of Education, IRS and probably a lot of others that I'm forgetting... I would also try to educate the American people about the proper role of the federal government under the Constitution, the significance of self-governance (read: governments should require consent of the governed), and how destructive a force the government can be in relation with the economy.
Hold a TV "Address to the Nation" session and begin it as follows... "Good Evening fellow Americans, I would ask that you all sit down and prepare yourselves for a shock. As of 0:00 tomorrow the letters USA will stand for United Socialist Americans "
1. Withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan, and leave the questions "how can we make up for destroying your countries" up for public referendum within the respective countries, and then donate all of the resources possible to helping them in reasonable ways they declare. 2. Legalize cannabis at the federal level, let everyone out of prison for cannabis-related offenses where applicable. 3. Socialize healthcare COMPLETELY and instate top-quality care for every human being in our borders. We have the resources to do this, though many of you I am sure are preparing your protests to this idea. 4. Get off oil. We have the technology to do this. No more blood money to despotic dictatorships in the Middle East who let us guzzle their oil in exchange for turning our backs to their human rights issues. 5. Outlaw corporate financing of politicians, and level the playing field so that poor people can run for office and receive fair exposure (this would mean re-wiring the media complex to favor the people and not corporate interests. Of course, none of this is possible in practically with only the Executive office. One would need to have much more power than the current nature of the seat allows.

Win and vacation for 2nd term. ACTUALLY I would... 1.) Use the current power of the federal government to Lower Taxes and get the government out of the economy, Ect. Basically what Ron Paul would do. I don't need to explain it. 2.) Take that power away from the government.
Because they care more about money than screwing thier own country. My idea would screw them back and my screw would be bigger than thier screw. That means I'd win.
Ok, come-on now. Let's throw more into the equation; You've accomplished getting the people behind you. You have a 95% approval rating with the country and you're on a roll. You have power that no other President has ever had. The people love you. Congress loves you! The courts love you! What are you going to do next? What's your next big effort? What are your goals for the USA?

I would create an Agency that's objective would be the following: Remove any type of Injustices, Corruption etc. from our Gov't. Protection of all rights and addition of any rights needed in the future. So, anything that infringes on the rights of people (for example... prohibition) would be investigated and removed by this Agency. The agency would be above all other powers. It would be able to challenge and remove any decision made by any group (Congress, President, Senate, everyone.) Steps would be taken to make sure that this Agency cannot be corrupted, or become to powerful and a dictator. It would follow the same idea as the constitution basically. It would have its own type of President. This President would be the most powerful person in the country. This is because it would take 75% of the Agency to overpower the Presidents veto. If at anytime any person believes that this Agency is doing something wrong, for example, if the Agency removed a right that was given to the people due to corruption or any other reason such as stupidity, they could challenge the Agency. If they can prove that they have done something unjust, it would be removed immediately. SO yes, one person. no matter who it is, can protect the rights of a whole country. To work in the Agency you must prove that you understand what your job is. It is simply to suggest new rights to be added, find any scenario where rights are/could be abused, etc. For a right to be taken away it would require the President of the agency to agree and also 51% of the agency members. Keep in mind the Agency would be a lot more effective than what I have said. I am just one person. I am sure you get the main idea though. Edit: Also, say goodbye to the supreme court.
This thread and the ideas espoused in it represent the fallacy that things can be fixed with top-down authority.
Just went to law school/college for the last 7 years. That does NOT make me think that I deserve millions of dollars made on the backs of low-level employees who cannot support their families. That is the type of thing I am talking about. I don't think a Harvard/Law degree means that you are inherently smarter/harder worker. It just signifies that you could be a hard worker (some people have to work hard to get these degrees) or you have the right family, etc. Either way - if you go to school for 8 years longer why does that entitle you to 1000 times the pay? Why can't you be okay with 8 times the pay of the employee who is actually doing the real work? Jimmy is an idiot for not graduating high school. Therefore, he gets paid 5-10x less than me. However, I will not use his labor to accumulate millions while allowing Jimmy and his family to live paycheck to paycheck just because he failed out of high school. That would create massive class distinctions and cause our taxpayer (you and I) to support social nets (i.e. food stamps, welfare) because our corporations are completely okay with leaving their workers with insufficient amounts to live. If Jimmy doesn't go to college he is still going to be the low man on the totem pole. I just have a problem with the top of the totem pole getting so much while the bottom cannot make ends-meat. If you're gonna make millions and millions of dollars, pay your fucking workers. Last year, during the recession, the Top 10 highest profiting companies in America cut something like a million jobs while still managing to make more money than they had the previous year. This is the kind of stuff that pisses me off. How do you put tons of loyal employees in the poor house while still making a higher profit than the previous year. I just want some accountability and I feel that equalization in pay between high lvl employees and low lvl employees would be a good thing.
