So, I'm a senior in high school, and since I've missed 15 days of school, I have to go to court for it Since I'm 18 can they really take me to court for that? What's the most that might happen?
It is stupid, but dude c'mon. It's only the first week in October and you've already missed more than 2 weeks of school? Weak.
Yeah you can definatly go to court for school problems. When i was like 13-14, i was constantly in trouble in school, like i would get write ups like 3-4 times a day. The school put in a PINS petition to the court and i got put on probation for a year, had to go to court ordered shrink, had to do scared straight, community service, and some more shit...but that was like a decade ago so who knows...
I personally would not think so because you are an adult so they can't force you to be there. Atleast thats what I think . I know at my school you could sign yourself when your 18.
You have to go to court just for missing 15 days of school? What kind of fucked up, twisted fascist country do you live in?
fuck school. lmao i missed well over 25-30 days my senior year but i had my mom make up some fake doctors shit and i was excused... fuck court... 2days an i got that shit too brotha.. so dnt wrry... aint shit but a little bitch ass judicial system eh!
You're legally obligated to go to school if you don't sign the drop out form, so yes. Really, though. Just man up and go. It's not like high-school is anything even CLOSE to difficult.
My mom is a teacher...and what I'm about to tell you is pretty much standard everywhere. All States, All grades... from elementary to high school. If you miss more than 10 days of school, they will take you to court. Why? To get you on an attendance plan. Basically if you miss anymore days of school you will be found guilty of truancy and you will pay fines and blah blah blah. The school can punish you with suspension and even possible expulsion if you don't go to class. No graduating, nothing. They will tell you that in the event you are expelled, you will not be able to return to any other school or school district for a whole year. That really fucks shit up right? Even though you are 18, you are still in their system and you're their responsibility during school hours. You are enrolled in school...and there's nothing you can do about it....it's state law. It's required for schools I'm sad to say. And trust me... the cops will come looking for you if you're not in school after your "attendance plan" If you are sick...or if you're smart...you would have a doc write you a note for those 15 days if you can convince them to. It was easy for me, just call in, say you need a doc note for school and they give it to you. If you can't do that before your court date...well you're gonna get an attentance plan. Just say you had the flu or something, your parents do not need to confirm anything since you're 18. But if they're on your side...it helps A LOT. If you are going to miss anymore days, get a doc note saying your sick, and they can't punish you. So go to class or prove your sick man...good luck.
DancingVinodini - Thanks for all the info man and whoever asked where I was from, I live in Ohio, apparently they are pretty strict about attendance here haha
Yeah it depends on the school I guess. I missed like 14 days my senior year, and we were only supposed to miss 12, or we wouldn't graduate. But nobody ever even brought it up to me, and I graduated just fine... Also, yeah, how have you already missed 15 days dude? It's only early October...
I thank god everyday for allowing me to live in Canada =D Thats pretty sick that they can send you to court for missing school, especially if your over 18... Although it's been said, don't throw away your senior year man.
