So this morning I woke up to a hellacious storm and the wind pounding the screen door against the house I went about my usual routine of rushing to get ready for college classes that begin at 8:30. After getting ready and running around for my keys I realize I left them in the truck so I pulled the door behind me hoisted up my back pack and almost made it to the drivers seat without realizing that my 2 German shepards are missing from the fence and my keys were locked in the truck..... By this time I was ready to cry. Missing dogs, late for a class thats a good 30 miles from my house & panicking to find a quick fix for the problem. On my way back into the house to grab my phone after pulling the door behind me i heard a loud thud startled I spun around to See what had fallen on the floor laid a heavy cast iron cross with spiked ends..... ( that my roomies and I hide in the house)(for giggles)....... Sticking almost into the linoleum. It fell a few inches behind my head and missed me.......... Now I'm starting to question if being an atheist is bad for my safety. It nearly killed me.... And the cast iron cross, broke.
Anyone else think this is a sign. Or just coincidence.
Wow, that's a crazy day.. Probably just a coincidence. Have you always been atheist?
Every single second of existence is a coincidence. Yours was unfortunate but it was not caused by you being atheist, but rather, by scientific laws that govern the Universe. Being an atheist is a rather free, honest and dignified way to live, without archaic and ignorant prejudices and beliefs that only work to dehumanize you and control you in ways that religions find acceptable. If anything, let your own existence be your shield against false dogma and inhuman rituals. The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion. - Camus
It's very possible to be both an atheist and agnostic at the same time. Those philosophical positions don't exclude each other and can very well complement a man's Weltanschauung.
So anytime a Christian ponders on the verity of another degree, say Islam, they become a Muslim? or a Monotheist or Deist?
Or perhaps your lack of faith is what protected you from the attempted smiting by an incompetent and malicious deity.
I see repeated messages from different locations as communication with god. For example if I saw something on tv that pricked me then within a few hours or days later, someone told me the exact same thing from a completely separate, unique source, like a parent, that's the divine speaking to you personally. Repeated messages from unique locations to a singular person, that's to many "coincidences" for me, that's a divine appointment from someone with transcendental knowledge of a higher plan. I don't believe in coincidence.
I have had things happen to me in the past few years that make me think something bad is going to happen. This year I have been in 2 car accidents, nearly hit in the head by a cast iron cross, somehow didn't get hit head on by an 18 wheeler although he was in my lane... I think I'm dodging death.
the first time i saw Final Destination, a baseball rolled off of a shelf above me and landed right on my head. it scared the piss outta me but i didnt see it as a sign from the film makers or the new york mets.

Unless you were doing something specific (drunk driving etc.) in these occurrences then I wouldn't take them as a sign to anything. Here is a sign: one of my friends has dabbled in dealing since he was in high school, he was always super paranoid and safe. A few months back his dad found a qp bagged up ready to push, he decided it was a good idea to quit. Then in the past week or so he started again and within like 2 days his dad saw him making a transaction. I would take that as a clear cut sign to up and quit. Getting caught on two random occasions back to back when he has never been caught before, it's a warning from the transcendental forces to quit before he slips up and gets caught by a higher force who will take his freedom for a long time. Take that with a grain of salt.
