Thinking of start a new Business

  1. I know that there are alot of pot heads that live around me. (me included) I am also pretty damn sure that there are alot more people growing there weed inside than people probably think. The closest Hydroponics garden store is 2 1/2 to 3 hours away. I am also sure that alot of people don't want to order off the net or magazine because they are afraid they wll be watched amd busted. I have owned my own construction company for about 10 years now and with the econemy the way it is construction is dead. So...... I ws thinking of opening a hydropanics and gardening store. What do you all in the US think?

  2. Professionalism is key to getting ahead. Not trying to nitpick, but work on the spelling / grammar. Also, just for the haters, I'm sure my posts are riddled with mistakes, but I'm not trying to start a business, heh.

Sounds like a solid plan, just make sure you do your research first. Don't just make it about weed, obviously. Cater to the 'gardening' market. Also, have you thought about maybe the reason the store is so far away is that you have a Wal-Mart that's closer? Many, many things go into play, but it all boils down to doing research about your area, finding investors, and having a solid business plan, and the cash to bail it out if it goes under.

  3. Not much input for you except for two things,

    1. Incorporate to protect your personal assets from debtors and legal action. This is extremely important. If you run a successful business, sooner or later you'll get sued.

    2. Location location location! You'll pay a premium for a store front in a prime traffic area but it will be well worth it.

If you have good credit, setting up terms with your suppliers won't be too much of a problem. If not, you're going to have a hard time. You always want to set up 15 or 30 day net terms and hold onto your money as long as possible before paying bills. Cash flow is everything especially when you're starting out. 70% of new businesses fail in the first year. Of those that survive, half of those will fail in the second year. I say that not to discourage you but to emphasize how important it is for you to have all your ducks in a row beforehand. Good luck to you brudda! If you're smart and determined, it will be worth the risks.

  4. Damn, this dude knows what he's talking about lol! My main advice would be to be careful and like ^he said be prepared to get sued.

  5. Good Idea my friend,I hope for your bright success. The points which are really important for that business and which I have concluded from my experience are:
    Start on a shoestring
    Protect your personal assets
Understand how -- and if -- you will make a profit
Make a business plan, no matter how short
Get and keep a competitive edge
    Put all agreements in writing
Pay your bills early and your taxes on time

  6. hell yea lmao
