Hey there GC i'm starting first grow soon and would love help with some lighting/space/security questions before I go in! It is a 4 bedroom house with 1 room dedicated to a 8x8 growing space. Because the law is a problem, my first and most important question is HOW MUCH light does GC members think can be used in this house before it becomes suspicious???....theoretically in a state like say, TX? . The house at one point had four people living in it and now has none. Next, because of Wattage issues I was thinking for the start using a 600watthps with a 600wattLED stealth grow in a 5x5 space. How sufficient would that light be in that amount of space? Would the mix of lighting work? and whats the most amount of space that could cover if it were to work? Last question....how much dry weight can be expected in 8x8 space? There are a few of us in on this project for personal use so we want to know what kind of yield we can be looking at for the split! Thanks for any and all positive input!
thats a whole lot of space, the yield could be huge if you do it right. depends on the plants too. and how many you want going. and how much you want to spend on lighting. there are good LED's then there are THE Famous Shit ones. as long as you get the right one. hope it helps? lol im stoned and its 5am... but its a reply. lol
lol wellll I is the stealthgrow series a shit one? and CMONNN no replies on the MAX lighting I should use in 1 household orr if a grow using LED/hps lights would workkk? I was thinking of anywhere from 10-20 plants. I have about a 4k limit on spending for the whole setup....no decision on strain.....buttt thank you for the reply early morning stoney reploy haha
there are entire threads on the amount of watts you can use man.. literally 40 pages of people offering up their 2 cent opinion.. bottom line is you never get caught by using too much power alone. The power company doesnt give a fuck. Its if you get in trouble or someone tips off the cops, then if they get enough evidence they can subpoena your power records, compare them to the neighbors or against the history of the domicile, and can sometimes get their search warrant if the power is high enough. It will never happen just because you use too much power. There needs to be an investigation already triggered somehow for the power records to be a legal issue. They might send you a letter alerting you to your consumption if you are going nuts, but its to protect them from getting stuck with the bill if someone is stealing power from you or something, but if you pay the bill they wont care. Also 1200W is like a serious non issue. Thats no more than like 15KWH a day average for your grow. extra 80 bucks or so on your bill isnt gonna make anyone think anything! An xbox is 400W even on idle and a gaming computer usually has 1000W power supply. that setup uses less power than a pool and small A/C in a given month. No worries there. and 4k??? you can do some serious damage with that budget.. in that space, if you intend to go all out, anything less than 2lb a harvest and you are failing lol.
id look into the DS-100's they are like 280 shipped to you and u can get a deal if you buy a few of them id say go with 6-8 of them and space them accordingly as long as you got good ventilation you shouldnt need to run A/C in the room(unless your temps where you live are already high www.advancedledlights.com/categories/3W-LED-Grow-Lights/ they got a 3year warranty 100% usa made and 3 month trial (if you dont like them just send them back and get ur refund..haven't heard/seen anyone who has sent them back yet )
Welll shittt, thanks for the input. I talked to a friend who manages a hydro store and he convinced me no LED lights haha as welll as helping the whole process. BUT yeah ive just heard so many ideas on max watts from 1 place just need a little reassurance lol but yes i do plan to go all out. And anything under 2 is a FAIL!
One more thing to add: I read it is common practice for new home-owners to request a printout of the useage of the prior homeowners from the hydro provider, in order to get an idea of their useage and to determine if there are any power leaks. So that should give you an idea of a general baseline.
LOL ur crazy these led's from advanced are top of the line GROWING lights... i mean unless you want to grow crap then go with ur homemade radioshack led...
just remember all the extra crap you have to buy when you use hps (fans, vents, A/C, and even humidifiers) plus you gotta power all that crap.....LED's run cooler and use less electricity just my 2 cents but its your grow do your thang
hey lov4led, ever seen anyone try using just regular home depot style LED? are they reasonably effective in relation to their lumen outputs? I know they are expensive, but i just wonder if they'd work if you put 20 or so of them in a rack. 13-Watt (60W)Day Light (5000K) A19 DayLight LED Light Bulb-ECS A19 V2 CW 120 at The Home Depot 17-Watt (90W) Bright White (3000K) LED Flood Light Bulb-ECS 30 V2 WW FL 120 at The Home Depot
dont let just 1 person tell you how to grow just cause they work at the hydro store might mean they want you to buy all your stuff for HPS there... check this out Magic Beans' Advanced LED Diamond Series 200w VS. 250w HPS - Lemon Skunk Flood Table LED ~ 193w (DS-200) HPS ~ 272w(250w hps) Yield......
