Things you've grown out of (personal growth)

  1. If we look back, sometimes we realise that we've changed for the better, sometimes it's takes a lot of effort, sometimes it happens without us noticing.

The idea of this thread is to post things ways you've realised you've changed as you've grown older and wiser.

    I'll start:

I've gotten over the need for drama, to make a big deal out of everything.

  2. Over the need to break the law all the time :p

  3. The need to get attached to and weighted down by things that have nothing to do with me

  4. getting angry over something you can or can't fix. Almost perfect on that one :)

  5. I've gotten over feeling guilty over every little thing, even when it isn't my fault.

  6. I have simply grown out of acting and thinking according to society norms into acting and thinking according to myself when it comes to matters where the society norms don't allow me to be me.

  7. Hell yeah, this. I got over this bullshit right out of highschool

  8. I've grown out of caring about what other people are thinking of me. I just don't give a fuck what they think. It makes one act a lot more free.

  9. Thinking too much. I used to believe that if I thought about everything enough I could figure out the universe and never get anything wrong, because I would have calculated the outcome.

Now, I can chill a bit more. Life is better this way.

    And stealing.

  10. so people arnt all like this? im about the only one in school that is over all that and thats all everybody in my school is like, small school so all every one cares about is others peoples business and what not

  11. Every single highschool is like that. You'll notice a huge change a few years after highschool.

Gets so much better. Although getting highschool tail was easier...

  12. I've gotten over needing to try and get laid all the time -.-

  13. The ego.

There's still a little left, but it's getting to the point where it only arises when I choose it to. The ego is probably the primary source of all delusion... losing it puts everything else into place.

  14. This right here. Grew out of this when I was around 15. Found out just being myself was better. It doesn't matter what other people think of me, because they don't matter.

  15. Gotten over the need to numb my emotional pain daily

  16. Don't mean to be this guy, but isn't controlling/growing out of your own ego a little bit of an egotistical thought....?

Not saying it's not possible, just saying :D

  17. I guess that's why it's still there.

Another Catch-22. To try to be non-egocentric is to be egotistical. Good One.

    Like thinking about not-thinking.

But is conjuring the ego in the name of humility (or survivability) better than letting it run free?
