Things mental health professionals have said to me about cannabis

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by fairy boots, Oct 19, 2012.

  1. "It is terrible for your mental health."

"It is a terrible habit, it is bad for you."

    "It kills your brain cells."

"'They' are making it more potent these days."

"I see people coming in here with anxiety and depression that is worsened, or caused by it."

Should I say anything back? I never know what to say when doctors say this stuff to me. I NEED mental health care for my conditions, I am on medications that have been helping. I don't vape all that much really. I may even quit soon because these people are bumming me out and I'm looking for a job. I feel like if I defend weed I will seem like an addict but I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TELLING ME IS A LIE!!! It's all government propaganda and they are funded by the government. Should I just sit quietly or defend the plant I love? :(

  2. Just say "Do you honestly believe _________."

  3. Do some research into the multiple state universities that do studies on medical marijuana , And tell him your findings, like for instance University of Mississippi, has been distributing medicinal marijuana to now seven patients every month for the last 25 years AND it is funded by the feds..

  4. watch clearing the smoke the science of cannabis itl break it down for you. but long story short most docs are brainwashed sad but true.

  5. just put granny on the phone

  6. "It is terrible for your mental health."

Then why do schizophrenics function better and live longer on it?

Also suicide rates go DOWN! I think the number of folks killing themselves is a fair measure for mental health levels in a community.

"It is a terrible habit, it is bad for you."
Sit them down and DARE them to read my List all the way through! And if it were really bad for you, wouldn't that show up in mortality rates?

This one is true, but that just means you need to smoke less for the same effect, thus not harming your lungs as much. Also since there is no known lethal dose for natural cannabis in humans, what difference does it make how strong it is?

"I see people coming in here with anxiety and depression that is worsened, or caused by it."

This one is partly true. Some people need a touch of CBD in their cannabis for the best effect. Unfortunately, most "smoking" cannabis has very little CBD in it!Without CBD, they can be prone to panic attacks and anxiety. The solution is simple- find strains like Harlequin that have CBD.

Depression is also tricky. Because cannabis has the ability to cause neurogenesis (new brain cells are formed) and the new brain cells have lots of CB1 receptors on them, cannabis can be a "two edged sword". If your diet is way low in Omega 3, the new CB1s will be made defectively- and this causes depression. the brain can't work right if the CB1s are "broken"

When you have more new brain cells being made (because of cannabinoid stimulation) and they have dud receptors, cannabis can worsen your depression. :(

I think the addition of Omega 3 in folks with poor diets can correct this problem. The new receptors will be functional and the depression will lift! :D

  7. To be fair in most states they have to say that bullshit to keep their positions.

  8. Speak of the devil :devious:

  9. Weed, in my opinion, seems to effect everyone differently.

Some people get panic attacks, some get extremely lazy and lose all motivation, some can smoke 5 blunts a day and nothing happens to them.

Just gotta figure out how it effects you.

  10. Wat teh fuck...

My friend went to the hospital recently because he had a ''little'' problem, he wanted to kill everybody in his classroom because someone made a joke abotu him (just for fun wasnt serious). He obv smokes weed and when he went to the hospital, the psychiatrist and the nurses told him weed could not do mental damages or anything like that, but that he shouldn't smoke while he take his medication.

  11. "weed causes psychosis" no it doesn't. I honestly don't think you have to be too smart to be a dr.

  12. Just hit the bong after they tell you that, blow it in their FUCKING faces, and walk off.
    Fuck the man.

  13. I wish I could, lol.

I know :( . If you say you smoke weed they send you to the place where AA meetings are held to have an assessment. It costs $35 and you basically become a statistic. You HAVE to or else they will not treat you. It's complete BS.
