Hi, I came across a medical theraputic light array today, and wonder if it would suit growing hooch. It has 6 x 18W, 5000K triphosphor, T8 (40cm) fluro tubes. Could it be used to grow maybe 2 plants in a wardrobe? Are the 5000K triphosphor battens suitable for growth and alkaloid production? Tressie.
a SAD lamp? yes it can. One was used to grow seedlings until an HPS was purchased. Years of experience using fluoros showed that light temp (as long as it isnt green) makes little difference; its all about the lumens and penetrative quality of the light.
Hi Kazamere, Thanks for the advice about the 5000K fluoro lights. I'm not sure what a 'SAD' light is. I guess either a 'Something' Artificial Daylight lamp, or maybe just not such a good choice. I hope the former I just went and got the lamp. Paid about USD $35.00, which was the lowest they would go. It has a maternity hospital property sticker on it, so I guess it was a vitamin producing sunlamp for premature babies or something. Thanks again for the advice. I'll let everyone know how it all works out. Tressie.
"Seasonal Affective Disorder" lamp. In the winter when there is less light folks get depressed, and using a SAD lamp in the morning helps to elevate the mood. SAD lamps should be at least 10,000 lumens which should be sufficient with mylar around it. Good luck and good growing!
Hi want2beme2, Thanks for the welcome to grasscity. I had a look at 10 forums (got banned from 2) and I think this is home. The light I got is an ex-theraputic lamp array of 6 x 40cm, 18W T4 battens. They're 5000K daylight, which will be a bit of an experiment. No dramas. I can substitute a few GroLux tubes if it doesn't work well. Spent the morning cutting bits off the lamp's stand to make it fit in my bedroom wardrobe. A perfect fit, but now needs some sort of adjustable tray for the plants. Next comes the genetic material (seeds). I've been out of the scene for about 10 years, and everyone I knew that smoked is either dead or not communicating with me (it's complex). The plan then is to send away to Amsterdam for some WHITE WIDOW MARIJUANA SEEDS, maybe. Not cheap, so I'll let the affiliate links do all the hard part for me. Nice to catch up with you want2beme2. Tressie.
